About this file
This file is a written inquiries and answers document for RFP 2026000270 issued for Class 7 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The procurement seeks both daycab and box truck configurations, with bidders noting that current BEV availability extends to August 2027 or later. For daycab vehicles, the specifications include a GVWR limited to 33,350 pounds, with the steer axle and suspension rated at 12,500 pounds and tires limiting capacity to 12,350 pounds. The power output requirement of 300 kilowatts continuous power can be met with the largest single-axle eCascadia powerplant option rated at 390 horsepower and 296 kilowatts. For box truck configurations, only 22,000-pound rear axles are available from the manufacturer, with a maximum battery rating of 291 kilowatt-hours. The charging port location under the driver's door is acceptable for daycabs, while box trucks can accommodate a rear-end-of-frame charging port configuration.
The document addresses technical feasibility questions regarding vehicle specifications and charging infrastructure. Both vehicle types have limited options from available manufacturers, with responses confirming that proposed charging port locations and technical specifications meet the agency's requirements. No pricing information, contract term details, set-asides, or award dates are specified in this written inquiries and answers document.
