About this file

This is a work list document for the Gold Creek Project, a mine closure initiative involving federal land management and private property in Colorado. The project encompasses the closure and stabilization of 13 mine features (adits and shafts) located in Gunnison County, Colorado, in the vicinity of Parlin, Ohio City, and Pitkin. The work involves constructing closure structures using three primary methods: bat grates with access doors (6 features), polyurethane foam (PUF) installation (5 features), and corrugated steel pipe (CSP) bulkheads (1 feature). Ten features are designated for active closure work, while three features are marked for exclusion. The features are distributed across United States Forest Service land and private land holdings, with detailed access routes provided from US Highway 50 via County Roads 76, 771, and 763. Specifications for each feature include precise construction dimensions, material requirements, and references to Standard Work Specifications (SWS) sections and standard drawings for implementation.

The project specifications reference detailed closure methodologies outlined in sections 9, 10, 11, and 13 of the SWS documentation and standard drawings numbered 5 and 6. PUF installations require 2 to 3 cubic yards per feature, with collapsed material designated as bottom or back forms to minimize material costs. Bat grate closures include specifications for steel beam keying into bedrock, rebar welding at 12-inch centers, and full bat ladder and human access door installations on historically eligible features. Site conditions vary significantly, with depths ranging from 7 feet to 300 feet and present dimensions varying from 2 feet by 4 feet to 20 feet by 20 feet. The document includes precise UTM NAD83 coordinates for each feature and detailed driving and hiking access instructions, indicating that some features require significant vertical elevation changes and non-motorized access. No pricing, schedule, or procurement timeline information is provided in this work list document.
