About this file

This is a bid set of construction plans and technical specifications for the Greenwood Metropolitan District in South Carolina for railroad boring services related to the installation of a sanitary force main under a CSX railroad crossing on Briarwood Road in Woodlawn, Greenwood. The project involves installation of 180 linear feet of 18-inch steel casing via jack and bore method beneath the railroad right-of-way, with a 10-inch PVC C-900 DR-18 carrier pipe installed inside the casing. The project includes removal of existing 10-inch force main infrastructure, installation of new plug valves, thrust blocks, and pipeline vents in accordance with GMD design standards and CSX pipeline occupancy requirements. Sealed responses are due by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, through the District's eProcurement Portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/gmdsc.

The plans specify detailed technical requirements including mechanical restraints using megalug restraints on all mechanical joint fittings, concrete thrust blocks designed per soil bearing capacity tables provided, and brick end seals at both termination points of the casing pipe. CSX requirements mandate 24-hour continuous jack and bore operations without stoppage until completion, daily track settlement monitoring surveys, pre-work approval of construction submittals including work plans and means and methods, CSXT flagging services during all work, and final as-built documentation. The project is identified as Project 2026-RFB-008 with CSX Crossing Number 639037J, and is funded through FY2027 capital appropriations of the Greenwood Metropolitan District.

AutoCAD SHX Text NOTES: 1. THIS DETAIL IS PROVIDED AS A GENERAL GUIDELINE ONLY. THE ENGINEER SHALL THIS DETAIL IS PROVIDED AS A GENERAL GUIDELINE ONLY. THE ENGINEER SHALL DESIGN THRUST BLOCKS BASED ON ACTUAL TEST PRESSURES AND SOIL BEARING CAPACITIES. SEE NOTE 2. 2. THE TABLE SHOWN IS BASED ON A MAX TEST PRESSURE OF 1.5 X 150 PSI AND A THE TABLE SHOWN IS BASED ON A MAX TEST PRESSURE OF 1.5 X 150 PSI AND A MINIMUM ALLOWABLE SOIL BEARING PRESSURE OF 2000 PSF. THE VALUES ARE CALCULATED BY THE FOLLOWING EQUATION: BEARING AREA = THRUST AT 100 PSI X (TEST PRESSURE/100) THRUST AT 100 PSI X (TEST PRESSURE/100) SOIL BEARING PRESSURE WHERE TEST PRESSURE = 1.5 X 150 PSI HIGHER TEST PRESSURES AND LOWER SOIL BEARING CAPACITIES WILL REQUIRE LARGER THRUST BLOCKS. LOWER TEST PRESSURES AND HIGHER SOIL BEARING CAPACITIES MAY REQUIRE SMALLER THRUST BLOCKS. 3. THE BEARING AREA = "A" x "B". "B" SHOULD BE 1 TO 2 TIMES "A" BUT AT THE BEARING AREA = "A" x "B". "B" SHOULD BE 1 TO 2 TIMES "A" BUT AT LEAST EQUAL TO THE OUTSIDE PIPE DIAMETER. 4. "C" SHALL BE THE GREATER OF "A"/2 AND "B"/2. "C" SHALL BE THE GREATER OF "A"/2 AND "B"/2. 5. NO OVER-POUR OF CONCRETE FROM FORMS SHALL BE ALLOWED.NO OVER-POUR OF CONCRETE FROM FORMS SHALL BE ALLOWED.
