About this file

This document is an Addendum to the original solicitation for the Winterville Blacksmith Shop rehabilitation project, which is being undertaken by the City of Winterville, Georgia. The addendum provides revised drawings and clarifications to contractor questions, including updates to the roofing, site drainage, millwork, materials, and structural design. Key changes include confirming the base bid for the roof, removing the "Corten finish" specification, providing an updated roof assembly drawing, allowing for the existing sill beams to be removed, and specifying the use of cedar for the new board and batten siding. The bid deadline has been extended to November 1st at 10:30 AM, and the lowest responsible bidder will be selected for the contract.

The project is funded in part by a Community Development Block Grant, and applicable portions of the work must conform to Davis Bacon Wage Rates. Bidders must also provide E-Verify and Section 3 compliance information. The solicitation is for construction services to rehabilitate the 19th century Blacksmith Shop located on Inez Edwards Plaza in Winterville, Georgia, which is within Clayton County.

RESPONSES TO CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS BELOW IN CAPS

• Can you please confirm that the base bid for the roof is now the original “ALT BID”, this includes “INSTALL NEW 5V ROOFING PANELS PER MANUFACTURER’S

INSTRUCTIONS”? CONFIRMED

• Can you please confirm that we are removing the specification for “CORTEN FINISH” from the roofing selection? CONFIRMED

• Can we get an updated drawing of the new roof assembly? PLEASE FIND

ATTACHED REVISIONS.

• Are we pricing to keep the existing sill beams? THESE HAVE BEEN REMOVED PER

STRUCTURAL. PLEASE FIND ATTACHED UPDATED DRAWINGS.

• Is there an opportunity to dismantle the building and label all pieces that will be reinstalled? THE EXISTING STRUCTURAL FRAMING IS TO REMAIN AS NOTED IN

THE DRAWINGS.

• If we are sistering the entire length of the ceiling beam near the forge location, is it necessary to keep the post located in the proposed office room? NO, IT IS NOT AS

LONG AS THE EXISTING CEILING BEAM THAT IS CURRENTLY DEFLECTING

OVER AN INCH WILL BE JACKED UP TO CORRECT DEFLECTION, DEFLECTION

NO MORE THAN 1/4", SISTERED AND THEN JACKS RELEASED.

• Can you please specify that the called out “beams” that are being sistered on sheet S1.0 are the drop beams below the ceiling assembly and not the ceiling rafters themselves? EVERYTHING THAT IS CALLED "SISTERD" SHOULD

BE IN THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE BEAM THAT IS BEING SISTERED,

SO THE BOTTOM FLUSH, NOT DROPPED. GC CAN USE DETAIL C/SS2.0,

OR ALTERNATIVELY 1/2" DIA. THRU BOLTS AT 16" O.C. STAGGERED, 4

INCHES MAX FROM EACH END, BOLTS CANNOT BE PLUGGED IN. I

PREFER THE OPTION WITH THRU BOLTS, BUT IF HISTORIC WON'T
