About this file
This is a Vehicle Installation & Service Manual for the Pennsylvania Game Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement (BLE) outlining detailed specifications for Warden/Supervisor vehicle upfits. The document provides comprehensive installation procedures for law enforcement patrol vehicles, including step-by-step guidance across twelve major sections covering pre-installation vehicle inspection, interior and exterior component installation, front-end and rear wiring, custom equipment box assembly, console mounting, wire color coding standards, gun rack installation, prisoner cage configuration, light placement, and post-installation testing and verification. The manual specifies technical requirements such as antenna mounting (800MHz, VHF, GPS, and CAD configurations), electrical wiring gauge and amperage specifications, lighting and siren equipment installation, surveillance mode integration, and equipment box integration with battery and ignition systems. All components must meet strict security and safety standards with proper grounding, moisture sealing with duct sealant, and cable management using zip-ties and grommet protection.
The manual establishes installation quality assurance through detailed post-installation checklists requiring operational testing of all lighting systems, siren functionality, gun racks, signal masters, front visors, head/taillights, turn signals, brakes, reverse lighting, radio systems, body camera systems, and watt meter verification of VHF and 7/800MHz radio frequencies. The specifications indicate this is part of the BLE's continuous initiative to upfit existing and incoming law enforcement patrol and supervisor vehicles, as well as provide maintenance and tear-down services for retired fleet vehicles destined for auction. The document serves as the installation standard for qualified radio and vehicle maintenance services installer/dealers contracted to provide these services at their facilities using both agency-provided and vendor-procured components.
