About this file

This document is a technical specification for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Boat - Aids to Navigation - Small (CB-ATON-S). The CB-ATON-S will be a trailerable boat operated from USCG Waterways Commerce Cutters to perform a variety of missions including aids to navigation (ATON), search and rescue (SAR), and maritime law enforcement. The specification covers the design, construction, testing, and logistics support requirements for up to 66 CB-ATON-S boats. Key details include principal characteristics (max length 21 ft, max beam 8.5 ft, max draft 1 ft), operational environment (up to 4 ft waves, 20 kts winds), speed (min 25 kts), range (min 50 NM), and capacity (min 6 personnel). The specification also includes requirements for project management, configuration management, warranty, provisioning, packaging, and delivery. The CB-ATON-S program will be conducted under 14 USC 665 and 10 USC 7309 which restrict construction of vessels in foreign shipyards. The USCG plans to issue a solicitation in early December 2024 via beta.sam.gov for a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a 5-year base ordering period and a 2-year option.
