Amendment 0002

Contractor Questions and Responses

Q1. What is the depth required for the jet grouting required for the 42" sewer force main? There is none indicated on the drawings. Also does the jet grouting need to be performed on both sides of the TRS (flood and protected). It is currently only shown on the flood side.

R1. The limits of the jet grout columns are shown on Sheet S-506, Section C (2-ft above the pipe, and 6-ft below the pipe). The jet grout is required on both the protected and flood side of the TRS/TFP.

Q2. If we are following along the lines of installing jet grout 6' beneath the utility, how is the Contractor supposed to install the PZ-27 sheetpile to ELE -40.0 beneath the jet grouted material and the utility?

R2. The TRS/TFP sheet pile will be driven to 2-ft above the utility (only where the TRS/TFP crosses the utility). The limits of the jet grout shall be 2-ft above the utility, extending down to 6-ft below the utility (not to the bottom of the sheets El -40.). No sheet pile is required under the jet grout.

Q3. What are the estimated quantities referenced in Amendment 0001 Q6?

R3. Structural Excavation = 1,780 CY, Structural Backfill = 1,414 CY

Q4. Amendment 0001 issued last week does not clarify the waterline work required for this project. Can we get the proposed locations for each tie-in with valve qty and locations?

R4. Yes. The existing 12" waterline underneath Algiers Canal is not being relocated. Relocation is limited to the East and West Banks of Algiers Canal only.
