Specifications section 028416, 028433, drawings sheet AD101, AD151, AD201
Architectural
Specifications sections 028416 and 028433 indicate PCBs to be removed and disposed. Drawing
AD101, AD151 and AD201, notes 9 and 10 indicate there is a sampling report for the existing asbestos, lead paint and PCBs. Has there been a complete NESHAP's survey of the building, and if so, is there a sampling report that can be provided?
See the air environmental surveys and abatement attachments.
Specifications section 070523 Architectural
Reference specification section 070523, Pressure testing for Air Barrier System. How will the
Contractor achieve satisfactory results for the blower door test and thermography considering that the majority of the exterior wall system is existing? Please clarify the scope of the testing.
The testing for the air barrier is limited to the building addition. The GC will be required to temporarily seal areas between the existing building and the addition to perform the air barrier test.
Drawings sheet C-
001 note 13 Civil
Reference drawing C-001, note 13. Has all existing topsoil and subgrade materials been sampled and cleared for off site disposal as "clean material"?
Existing topsoil and subgrade material has not been tested for contaminants. Base Environmental Manager advised that existing topsoil and subgrade material may be contaminated with the pesticide Dieldrin. All soils are to be stockpiled on site and re-distributed around the project site. See specification 01 11 00 section 1.2.1.
5 N/A General Conditions
Has an FAA permit been filed with the CT Airport Authority for this project? FAA Form 7460 (online) has been submitted to FAA for the permanent construction for this project. The contractor is responsible to file any temporary permit required for construction cranes, etc.
Drawings sheet M-
Mechanical
Dedicated outside air unit on M808 shows the outside air damper and relief air damper outside the unit.
A. Will the contractor be required to provide these dampers?
B. Are they shown on page M-401 labelled mechanical enlarged plans?
a. If DOAS is provided with internal dampers meeting low-leakage requirements according to Section 23 81 47, 2.1.2.h, and those dampers can be commanded closed according to sequence of operations, no external dampers are necessary.
If DOAS is provided without internal dampers meeting low-leakage requirement, external dampers must meet low-leakage requirement according to Section 23 09 23.13 20,
2.3.1. A note was added to M-808 to clarify this.
The general contractor shall coordinate which party will provide the necessary equipment.
b. M-401 shows an external damper in OA duct. Keynote
M11 is revised to, "24x12 EA UP TO GRV-1. PROVIDE
MOTORIZED DAMPER IN VERTICAL." The answer to 1.a. still applies.

7 Mechanical
There are three DSS (Ductless Split Systems) on this project but there is no reference to controls work on these units. Please clarify if controls work (low voltage wiring or integration) of these units.
Per ANGETL 15-01004, 20.2.2, ductless split systems for this project do not require monitoring or control by DDC. Provide manufacturer standard thermostat for local control of DSS's.
8 Mechanical The DSS-1 serving room 127 appears to be in a secured or high security room. Are there specific procedures to do work within this room? Will an CT-ANG escort be required when working within this space?
Refer to Section 01 14 00, 1.3.1 for general activity regulations. Coordinate with Contracting Officer
Representative for specific local requirements.
Drawings sheet M-
803, M-804 Mechanical
On page M-803 the condenser water system it references two cooling tower fans but the points matrix on M-804 only references one cooling tower fan. The mechanical schedule show one fan as well. Does this cooling tower have one or two fans?
The basis of design closed circuit cooler has 1 fan. M-803 is revised to clarify the design intent of a single fan.
Drawings sheet M-
Mechanical
M-803 heat trace thermostat location; where is this thermostat to be located? Will the controls contractor be responsible for the mounting, wiring, and installation of the thermostat?
See revised MP101, Keynote M5 to clarify heat trace thermostat location. Provide line-sensing thermostat on condenser water pipe.
The general contractor shall coordinate which party does portions of required work.
11 Mechanical EF-3 and 4; are these units to be DDC controlled?
Yes, a separate diagram and sequence was added to M-806 to differentiate control of EF-3 and EF-4 from EF-1 and EF-2.
12 Architectural
The drawings indicate that the storefront is to be Kawneer 1600 type 1 (which is curtain wall) while the specifications call for YKK's YHS50TU. What is required?
The drawings indicate the basis of design for the color selection only which is clear anodized. The spec indicates the basis of design for a thermally broken, impact resistant and blast mitigating storefront system. Provide per specification section.
13 Architectural
The drawings indicate that the fixed windows are to be ATFP compliant aluminum storefront even though the details are window details. The specifications call for YKK's YFW400TUH.
Provide storefront system for all windows and entrances per specification section 084113 - Aluminum Framed Entrances and Storefronts. Disregard specification section 085113. It is now deleted from the construction documents
14 Architectural The drawings specify that the finish for SF is to be clear anodized but the specifications call for organic finish as indicated. Please advise what finish is required and the color if applicable. Finish for storefront system to be clear anodized.

Specification Section 25 10 10 “Utility Monitoring and Control System (UMCS) Front End and
Integration” references what appears to be a complete Utility Monitoring System. The only reference to this is on Drawing E-601 (Key Note E11) that states to “Re-connect Existing Metering

The existing utilities (electric, natural gas, and water) are currently metered and monitored in Base Civil Engineering building. The intent of new work is not to disrupt the existing utility monitoring. Section 23 09 23.13 20 describes interface of new BAS with remote monitoring in Base Civil Engineering building.
Section 25 10 10 is extraneous and will be deleted from project manual.
