Attachment 1 Media Monitoring Service

Software search capability. Search tool provides user options to use keywords or complex Boolean search criteria.

Source selection. Option to narrow down results to only news sources, as well as geographic locations ranging from worldwide to specific countries. In addition, blogs and social media results can be included.

Search results. User has option to tailor results displayed: opening text, hit sentence, archive hits, rating source, and source information.

Source information. Must include the following information for every source identified in the results: source name, geographic location, country, region, category and languages.

Readership information. Every source identified in the results must include the following data on the prominence and reach of news source: percentile, rank, unique visitors, page views, active reach, sessions per visitors and time per visit.

This information is extremely important to assess audience penetration of the sources identified.

Quick tools. Every source identified in search results must include action buttons that allow user to easily take the following actions: create an archive or add to an existing archive; email a specific article; translate a specific article; hide a specific article from the results; or share specific articles on FaceBook and Twitter.

Exportable results. Search results displayed on screen must be exportable into Microsoft excel. The results and associated data should auto populate into the following preformatted categories: circulation, unique visitors, potential viewership, date, headline, opening text, hit sentence, keywords, URLs, rating and number of articles.

Real-time assessment. The results of each user-generated search must include a standing dashboard that displays all of the following: “to-the-second” trends in press coverage, including the number of articles, top publications and their geographic/viewership data, trending words and cumulative sentiment, and the ability to view and the density of coverage either globally or by specific region.

Exportable reports. Integrated tools in the service must produce customizable charts for search results that report press-coverage data and allow the user to specify the following:

A. Period of press coverage:

a.(1) Standard charts: Easily exports the following dashboard information-number of articles, top publications and their geographic/viewership data, trending words, cumulative sentiment, and density of coverage either globally or by specific region.

a.(2) Date period: specific dates, current month, previous month, last 3-6-12 months, current quarter, previous quarter, current year or previous year.

a.(3) From date and to date boxes for use when specifying dates a.(4) Date interval: day, week, month year

B. Chart options:

b.(1) Chart type: Line, column, area, pie b.(2) Chart size: Small, medium, large b.(3) Split by: World part, country, region, sub-region, positive/negative, language, readership b.(4) Display by: number of hits (articles), percentage total (proportional to the date intervals specified, such as press coverage (articles) percentages per week) b.(5) Date format: for example mm/dd-mm/dd

C. Options to add or remove data related to media audiences or press coverage sentiment, for example: Hide unrated articles. Hide articles with unknown readership; Show potential viewership of sources. Same Source (allows user to count articles that have been published multiple times as single stories)

D. Export format options: Excel, Excel with graph, JPG, PNG or PDF

News element search results. The displayed results distinguish the headline, lead sentence and hit sentence. This information helps public affairs determine the journalistic importance of the searched content within stories (where the searched term is located in comparison to the article’s lead). The ability to view this information helps public affairs assess the news value of specific keywords, terms and topics in the decision-making process of press rooms.

Graphic customizations. Graphs and charts are customizable to various time, type, size and regional settings. This key capability quickly shows variances in press coverage utilizing different and relevant criteria.

Social Media. Capable of searches (APIs and Firehose Feeds, etc.) of all publicly accessible blogs, forums, message boards, wikis, video sites, comment sections, and social networks worldwide. Unlimited ability to create specific channels that aggregate and automate results of relevant social conversations by keyword-specified topics, geography, and demographics. Can analyze conversations/results and provide insight into underlying themes, trends, sentiment, influencers, conversation volume and demographics that are happening in conversations across social networks today—and over time. Capable of creating detailed reports that break down results by channel (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.), measure volume, capable of comparative analysis, track organic output.
