AMENDMENT 0004
Requests for Information
1. The National Grid Scope of Work is not included in specifications.
See updated Scope of Work attached to this amendment and “CHANGES TO SPECIFICATIONS” below.
2. The National Grid Service agreement and cost is not included in specifications.
See updated Scope of Work and Bid Schedule included in this amendment and “CHANGES TO SPECIFICATIONS” below.
3. Is the duct bank required to be concrete encased, National Grid will not allow communications conduits within the same concrete encasement as electrical conduits, both sets of conduits will be required to be encased separately?
Figure 20.0-1 Typical Trenches in the National Grid Underground Commercial Distribution (UCD) Installation and Responsibility Guide indicates a 12” minimum separation between primary electric duct and a communication duct or cable. See attachment for referenced sketch. This separation is more than maintained in Section CB-CB of Detail D5 on Sheet E-501 of the electrical construction drawings with a 15” minimum separation to be kept between the two systems.
4. To maintain required separation of standby generator and conference building it will require cutting into the banking, is grading sufficient or will a retaining wall be necessary?
The generator pad will need to be constructed on a small 1-2' high embankment that ties into the existing slope to the north. A retaining wall is not necessary.
5. Will the USACE be providing the National Grid Three Phase Construction Specifications that they would have received from national Grid?
The latest trench sketch which the Government has received from National Grid on this project is included as an attachment to this amendment. Beyond that, the design references National Grid ESB No. 750 – Specifications for Electrical Installations 2022 and ESB No. 759B – UCD Installation & Responsibility Guide which are both included as an attachment to this amendment.
6. From experience National Grid usually requires transformers to be reachable from a paved surface or maintained road, the transformer appears to be in the middle of the lawn?
The transformer should be located within the required distance from the edge of pavement as specified by National Grid. This is shown to be 10’ from an accessible paved way, with minimum clearance to other structures in the National Grid specifications.
7. There was supposed to be an addendum with a possible bid extension, has that been distributed.
Yes, the bid opening was extended per Amendment 0003.
