About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal solicitation W912PX-26-Q-A005 issued by the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF South) regarding a flagpole installation project at Naval Air Station Key West. The Q&A period closed on 20 May 2026 at 14:00 hours EST, with one late question received on 21 May 2026 at 11:00 hours.
Key project specifications identified include: the existing flagpoles are 24 feet long with an ornamental ball top, constructed of aluminum with a 5-inch diameter, with approximately 4 feet encased in a concrete sleeve. The reference flagpole model is 33 feet long and was cut to the required length during installation, with approximately 5 feet removed ahead of installation. No prior model numbers or nameplate data are available for the existing poles as they are old with no visible markings. Contractors are required to conduct field verification ahead of ordering to confirm exact specifications.
Administrative requirements include: contractors must acquire a dig permit from Naval Air Station Key West Public Works Department, which may require Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) locates; no City of Key West or Monroe County permits are required as the work falls under federal jurisdiction. The Government conducted a mandatory site visit on Tuesday, 19 May 2026 at 09:30 hours at JIATF South, with no additional site visits scheduled. Reference photographs of a comparable flagpole were provided by the Contracting Officer by 22 May 2026 close of business to assist contractors in sourcing an appropriate direct match.

Requiring Activity Comments:
These are pictures of a flagpole that was bought at the same time as the ones currently installed. It’s 33’ long, aluminum, with 5” diameter. I’m told they cut this one to the length required. Ours are 24’ with a final (ornamental ball top). I think they encase 4’ in a concrete sleeve. That said, they likely cut 5’ off the pole ahead of installation. The contractor must field verify ahead of ordering.
