Digital Panographs are to be taken if no panograph is found in the record and equipment and demonstrate proficiency in DENCLASS or if the Soldier has had major dental treatment since the last panograph. Two extractions, two root canals or four restorations shall be considered major dental treatment. Contract dentist may order an updated panograph if deemed clinically necessary to complete a proper dental exam. Radiographs will be taken by trained dental technicians. Such technicians shall be trained and demonstrate proficiency on the contractors x-ray equipment prior to taking x-rays on soldiers Panographs/bitewings must be digital images must have a printed photographic quality copy available in the dental health record and entered into DENCLASS by the contractor.
