Include the following tests and adjustments.
3.5.3 FREQUENCY RESPONSE
a. Measure loudspeaker frequency response with all con trol equalization set for flat response, using 1/3 octave bands of pi nk noise centered on ANSI preferred frequencies, or broadband calibrated pink noise measured in 1/3 octave bands using a calibrated real time an alyzer.
b. Adjust equalization to provide average system respo nse within +-6 dB of a response (0 dB) which is flat from 100-2500 Hz an d slopes uniformly from 0 dB at 2500 Hz to -5 dB at 10,000 Hz.
3.5.4 UNIFORMATY OF COVERAGE
a. Use 4000 Hz octave band of random noise as test sig nal output to loudspeakers.
b. Lateral Uniformity: +-8 dB at all positions equidis tant from front of room.
c. Front to back Uniformity: Decreasing linearly withi n +-2 dB from 0 dB at front of room to -8 dB at rear as measured on th e room center line.
d. The audio system shall be capable of full spectrum audio coverage throughout the student seating area with no greater variance than +-3 dB infrequency response from 250 Hz to 16,000 Hz. S PL level measurements shall vary no more than 6 dB throughou t the student seating area when walk test using a pink noise gene rator.
e. Refer to NFPA for current CIS measurement technique s and standards related to testing. NFPA standards and requirements for systems are not applicable to this project. The NFPA documentation is intended as standard reference for performing the CIS test as i t relates to providing a performance metric for the audio system . This audio system is not to be considered a part of any mass notifica tion system.
f. Based on the throw distance, loudspeaker frequency response, power handling capability and coverage patterns, the syst em will be sufficient for the specified performance metrics. T he final construction of the room may cause acoustic anomali es prohibiting the system from meeting the CIS score of .7 due to high er than expected reverberation times post build. If the room constru ction is proven to cause the CIS specification to be exceeded, the per formance metrics may be modified to provide the best possible solution f or the owner.
However, should the CIS specification be deemed to be below .5, the contractor shall examine other speaker systems whic h offer pattern control to 250 Hz to increase the CIS value and cou nteract high reverberation times and room anomalies.
