1.2 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS

1.2.1 Project Description

The work includes the complete demolition of excess structures at Nellis and Creech AFBs and incidental related work. Nellis and Creech AFB have multiple facilities which have been designated as excess. The installation has made the determination that these facilities are no longer of value and present additional safety and maintenance concerns having them remain abandoned. The demolition of these facilities will also make way for future facilities in accordance with their Installation Master Plan.

Buildings and their site infrastructure are to be demolished within the approximate extents shown in the appendices. Demolition areas within disturbance limit must be restored to match existing adjacent grades.

Surface must be graded smooth and finished with rock mulch cover in accordance with Nellis and Creech AFBs Installation Facility Standards (IFS). Prior to rock placement, the Contractor shall apply an herbicide in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. The use of the herbicide shall be reported to the 99 CES/CEOUE, Building 1037, 702-652-5613. Rock mulch must be 6" thick. Utilities must removed back to nearest substation, manhole, branch, or logical termination point outside of the building footprint. Electrical terminations shall be made at the primary switch with transformer removed except were noted. Electrical terminations at pad mounted switch or transformer equipment requires: potholing to locate conduits, cutting conduit at elbows, removing cable, and capping conduit.

More specific terminations are provided in the summaries below. At Creech AFB the Valley Electric Association (VEA) is the utility provider and owner. The contractor must coordinate with VEA before any exterior electrical infrastructure is touched. Transformer and conductor are owned by VEA and their salvage will be up for the determination of VEA. VEA will assess a nominal service fee for disconnect of the service. After VEA disconnects primary service, contractor may continue demolition efforts.

VEA contact information is below. Contractor will be responsible for recording in the "As-Builts" submission in 0201 78 00 the final site conditions of the demolition and any relocations, cut-offs or tie-ins required to complete the scope of work. Additional base requirements are provided in Appendix B including working hours.
