Whittier Narrows Dam, Spillway Interim Risk Reduction Measure (IRRM), Los Angeles County

The Government is seeking qualified, experienced sources capable of replacing the existing mechanical system for controlling the Tainter gates with a redundant and resilient electromechanical system, including a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Work includes removing the existing gate height instrumentation and sheaves, associated ropes/chains, and weights in the existing Control Well that is approximately 18 feet in depth. A 6-inch motor actuated valve, a 6-inch manual valve, a 90 degree elbow, instrumentation (inside the pier control wells, within the basin, and on the Tainter gates), and a primary PLC with a backup PLC and Human-Machine Interface in the control house will all need to be installed, programmed, calibrated, and tested. The site of the project is Whittier Narrows Dam, El Monte, CA.

The estimated cost range of this procurement is $1,000,000 - $5,000,000.

This solicitation is issued as a full and open competition under The NAICS code is 237990 - Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. The size standard for this code is $36,500,000.

This project may be revised, delayed, postponed, or canceled until the final award is made.
