Basic Project and Options. The project consists of one basic project only. No optional work is included

Phase 1 (Design) Description:

I. Scope of work.

1. Introduction

In this phase the work consists of designing details and providing calculations and everything necessary to define all parts of the works in scale required to fulfill the scope of work. Design analysis and project drawings shall be signed by a registered professional engineer.

This scope of work concerns the heating and air conditioning systems renovation of buildings

901, 3041, 3050, and the upgrade of the A/C system’s control of building 4013.

Buildings 3041, 3050 and 4013 are located in the Ammunition Storage Area (ASA). Building

901 is located in Camp Darby.

All buildings are occupied and shall be occupied during construction. All works shall be designed and planned to limit disruptions for the occupants, preferring the period of not-use of the HVAC systems.

The efficiency of the new Heating and A/C systems shall be in accordance with Italian energy saving regulations.

2. Existing condition

BUILDING 901

The heating generator is a fuel oil boiler (70 kW heating power), placed in a dedicated boiler room in the building. The boiler is equipped with two dedicated circulating pumps (one spare).

Pumps are placed into the boiler room. The chimney is in masonry, external to the boiler room.

The fuel oil tank (5,000 liter capacity, sheet metal single skin) is placed outside the building, close to the boiler room. It is covered by a metal canopy and has a containment basin in concrete. The fuel oil pipes from the tank up to the boiler room runs buried, without leak detection system.

The cooling generator, air to water heat pump type (model CLINT CHA/CLK/WP 81 – 24.2 kW heating capacity – 19.8 kW cooling capacity, gas R410A, year 2015, equipped with circulating pump on board), is located outdoor on a dedicated basement with fence, close to the boiler room. The heat pump is in good conditions and shall be left in place. It will feed the new system, after its upgrade.

The hydronic circuit is dual type (heating/cooling), with two circulating pump (one spare).

Radiators circuit have dedicated pipes and pumps. The summer/winter changeover valves are located into the boiler room. The pipes from the heat pump up to the boiler room run on sight outside the building.

Pipes inside the building runs, starting from the boiler room, above the false ceiling and then descend into the walls up to the internal units.

The internal units consist of fan coils, floor mounted, equipped with three way valves. Three fan coils are new and will be left in place, while the others are in bad shape and need to be replaced. All fan coils are equipped with outdoor air inlet grilles. Two room thermostat are installed in the open space, when in the other room control panels are installed on board.

Radiators are installed in the bathrooms and in the entrance.

The bathrooms exhaust air system and its air ducts and grilles will not be modified.

The server room is cooled with a dedicated A/C system (direct expansion type) that is not part of this scope of work.

The building voltage is 230V three phases. An existing panel is installed in the boiler room, fed from the main distribution panel located in the office area. A transformer 230/400V is currently installed in the boiler room to feed the heat pump. All the electrical system in the boiler room, as well as the existing control system, shall be completely replaced.

BUILDING 3041

The heating generator is a fuel oil boiler (44 kW heating power), placed in a dedicated boiler room in the building. The boiler is equipped with two dedicated circulating pumps (one spare).

Pumps are located into the boiler room. The chimney is in steel, and is inside the boiler room.

The fuel oil tank (2,500 liter capacity, sheet metal single skin) is placed outside the building, far from the boiler room. It is covered by a metal canopy and has a containment basin in concrete. The fuel oil pipes from the tank up to the boiler room run buried, with leak detection system.

The cooling generator, air to water chiller type (model UNIFLAIR CRAC0161A – estimated cooling capacity 27 kW, gas R407C – 6 kg, year 2005, equipped with circulating pump), is located on a dedicated basement with fence, close to the boiler room.

The hydronic circuit is dual type (heating/cooling), open vessel. The summer/winter changeover valves are located into the boiler room. The pipes from the chiller up to the boiler room run buried. Pipes inside the building run, starting from the boiler room, above the false ceiling and then descend into the walls up to the internal units in the office space, when are on sight in the bays.

The internal units in the office space consist of fan coils, floor mounted, equipped with three way valves, control panels on board and outdoor air inlet grilles.
