About this file

This is a Standard Form 30 (Amendment of Solicitation/Modification of Contract) and accompanying Questions and Responses document for a duplex strainer procurement.

Amendment Details: Amendment 0001 was issued on August 25, 2026, by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District (W07V ENDIST N ORLEANS), for Solicitation W912P826QA025, dated August 24, 2026. The amendment provides responses to contractor questions regarding the duplex strainer procurement. The contracting officer is Christopher Nuccio, and the point of contact is Nakiea Butler at (504) 862-1772. Offers must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the hour and date specified in the original solicitation or as amended, by completing and returning the amendment, acknowledging receipt on each copy of the offer submitted, or submitting a separate letter or electronic communication referencing the solicitation and amendment numbers.

Contractor Questions and Responses: Four contractor questions were submitted regarding specification compliance and design feasibility. Contractors representing manufacturers including Kraissl, Eaton, Hayward, and Titan indicated that a carbon steel strainer with Galvanneal coating as specified does not exist in the market and requested acceptance of alternative materials. The government's responses (shown in red text) consistently indicate acceptance of cast carbon steel with Monel baskets as an alternative to the originally specified carbon steel with galvanized coating. The government also clarified that the 22.5-inch face-to-face dimension and 6-inch nominal pipe size are reference targets to minimize field piping modifications but are not limiting factors. The existing unit referenced is manufactured by Tate Andale, though the model number was not provided.

Questions and Responses

1. I have some questions as what is being requested does NOT exist. I represent Kraissl, Eaton, Hayward, and Titan. None of these manufacturers provides a carbon steel strainer with a Galvanneal coating as specified.

For seawater applications, we typically provide bronze strainers with Monel baskets.

Additionally, the specified 22.5-inch face-to-face dimension does not match any model from these manufacturers that I am familiar with.

Is there an existing unit? If so, could you please provide the manufacturer and model number?

In lieu of carbon steel strainer with galvanized coating, please provide cast carbon steel with Monel baskets. The specified 22.5- inch face to face was provided as a target to minimize field piping modifications, but this is not a limiting factor. The manufacture of the existing unit is Tate Andale, and I do not have the model number.

2. Would you kindly advise if you consider and accept an offer for a 6.0” Bronze Duplex Strainer instead of Cast Steel Galvanized.

In lieu of carbon steel strainer with galvanized coating, please provide cast carbon steel with Monel baskets.

3. Do you have a basis of design for this RFQ?

We are unfamiliar with a cast carbon steel strainer that is also galvanized.

The industry offers this type of equipment in cast iron, cast carbon steel, cast stainless steel, and cast bronze.

In lieu of carbon steel strainer with galvanized coating, please provide cast carbon steel with Monel baskets.

4. We would like to inform you that on the duplex model we can offer only fabricated type casted duplex strainers are not available in our production line for this size.

Kindly review the attached sample and images and let us know if the proposed design is in line with your requirements.

Our pipe layout for the inlet and outlet is linear. To keep pipe modifications to a minimum and due to spacing restraints, please quote for the inlet and outlet to be linear and the nominal pipe size shall be 6 inches. Flange to flange length is specified as a reference for our existing duplex strainer but is not a limiting factor if it cannot be met.
