About this file
This document provides specifications for aquatic disposal of dredged material under the Redwood City Channel Maintenance Dredging project solicitation. The specifications outline disposal site quantity limits, locations, and restrictions for five designated sites. Contractors must limit disposal quantities to no more than 500,000 cubic yards per month at the Carquinez and San Pablo Bay sites, 400,000 cubic yards in October and November and 300,000 cubic yards in June through August at the Alcatraz Island site, and 200,000 cubic yards total per year at the Suisun site. Disposal at the San Francisco Deep Ocean Disposal Site is subject to project-specific limits specified in regulatory guidance. Placement of material must be contained within defined boundaries at each site.

3.3.2 Open Ocean Transit (Where Applicable)
The maximum open-ocean tow speed shall be 6 knots over the bottom for loaded barges or as approved in writing by the Contracting Officer or delegated representative. No disposal barge shall be filled above its load limitation. Load limitation shall be defined as 80 percent of its load line or 80 percent of bin capacity, whichever governs. All scows shall have the 80 percent load line clearly marked inside of the bin for visual verification by the Contracting Officer or delegated representative.
3.4 DISPOSAL SITE QUANTITY LIMITS
Contractor using any of the following disposal sites shall not exceed the maximum quantity limit as defined below.
3.4.1 Carquinez Site (SF-9)
Disposing of greater than 500,000 cubic yards of dredged material at SF-9 per calendar month is prohibited.
3.4.2 San Pablo Bay Disposal Site (SF-10)
Disposing of greater than 500,000 cubic yards of dredged material at SF-10 per calendar month is prohibited.
3.4.3 Alcatraz Island Disposal Site (SF-11)
Disposing of greater than 400,000 200,000 cubic yards of dredged material at SF-11 per calendar month from October September to November is prohibited. Disposing of greater than 300,000 250,000 cubic yards of dredged material at SF-11 per calendar month from June to September August is prohibited. Disposal after 30 November is prohibited for this project.
