c. Transporters: The camera should be mounted on skids or a tractor suitably sized for the pipe to be televised that will position the camera lens above the liquid flow line, near the center axis of the pipe. Any motorized transporters should have adjustable speed control. The televising may also be accomplished using camera equipment mounted on a raft or floating pontoon, if the required pipe condition information cannot be obtained by tracked camera equipment within the maximum allowable flow depths.

d. Cable and Footage Counter: A minimum 1,500 feet of TV cable on the spool reel shall be provided. The TV cable will be supported by an equal length tag line for removal of the equipment from the pipeline.

e. Computer System: The computer system shall be capable of recording, indexing, and processing inspection data; printing CCTV inspection logs; and recording, storing, and playing video and images of pipe observations as required for the data documentation requirements of these specifications.

f. Software: Inspection software shall be an up-to-date, PACP compliant software, such as versions of CUES Granite XP, WinCam, Flexidata, or equal, as approved by LS/COR.

Submit manufacturer's label and SDS for the cleaning products proposed for use.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 PREPARATION

3.1.1 Sewer Line Cleaning

Immediately prior to conducting CCTV activities, thoroughly clean the segment of sewer pipe to be video inspected. Clean the segments using hydraulically propelled, high-velocity jet, or mechanically powered equipment.

Sewer cleaning shall be performed with hydraulically propelled high velocity jet designed for cleaning sewers. The equipment shall be capable of removing dirt, grease, rocks, sand, and other materials and obstructions from the sewer lines and manholes. As a minimum, jetting of lines must be performed by pulling the high velocity spray nozzle in the direction opposite to the force created by the water pressure.

Liquid decanted or separated from the solids shall be returned to the sewer and shall not contain solids having greater than a 1/2-inch .

SECTION 33 01 30.16 Page 11

The intent of sewer line cleaning is to remove all sludge, dirt, sand, rocks, grease, and other solids or semisolid material from the pipe so that the sewer lines are ready for relining.

a. During cleaning and preparation operations, undertake precautions to protect the sewer system and property from damage. Restore property damaged as a result of such cleaning and preparation operations to pre-existing conditions.

b. During the course of normal cleaning operations immediately report pre-existing damage such as broken or missing pipe to the Contracting Officer.

c. When hydraulically propelled cleaning tools or tools which retard the flow in the sewer line are utilized, take precautions to ensure that the water pressure created does not damage or cause flooding on the adjacent site.

d. Maintain access to fire hydrants for the purpose of fire protection at all times.

e. If cleaning of an entire sewer section cannot be successfully performed from one manhole or structure, set up the equipment on the other entry or exit point and attempt cleaning again.

f. If successful cleaning cannot be performed from the opposite end or the equipment fails to traverse the entire pipeline section, cease cleaning those specific sewer sections, notify the Contracting Officer and CCTV inspect both sides of the pipeline section to determine the cause of the blockage.

g. Protruding Lateral Connections: When specified, contractor shall remove protruding lateral connections via the use of internal cutting devices which are capable of providing a smooth lateral cut at its internal connection to the sewer.

h. Liquid and solid waste resulting from sewer cleaning shall be disposed at the Crown Point Wastewater Treatment Plant at 1321 Merrillville Road, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. Contractor must coordinate disposal with City Wastewater Plant Manager, Chris Previs.

3.1.1.1 Blockage

If cleaning of an entire sewer section cannot be successfully performed from one manhole, equipment shall be set up on the other manhole and cleaning again attempted. No additional payment allowance shall be made for reverse set-ups. If on reverse set-up successful cleaning also cannot be performed or equipment fails to traverse entire sewer line section, it shall be assumed that a major blockage or defect exists, and cleaning effort shall be abandoned.

Contractor shall determine the location of major blockage(s) by measuring length of hose or rod inserted from manholes at each end and immediately report location of blockage(s) to COR and CONTRACTOR shall note these conditions in its field log.

Contractor shall recognize that there are some conditions such as broken pipe and major blockages that prevent cleaning from being accomplished or

SECTION 33 01 30.16 Page 12

Color: Light Gray.

2.1.5 Work Included

Lining of manholes shall include bench unless manhole is to receive a new bench/channel as noted in the construction drawings. Cost of work shall be included in bid as there will be no additional VLF calculated for payment of the bench lining.

Remove manhole steps.

Prior to any repair work inside the manhole, all interior wall and invert surfaces shall be cleaned using a minimum of 5,000 pounds per square inch (psi) water to blast to removal all foreign matter, loose mortar, grease, oil residues, and to etch the surfaces. After pressure cleaning, surface is to be cleaned with degreaser or other solvents as needed to remove any film or residue on the surface. Structure shall then be pressure rinsed with water.

a. Material removed from the manhole during cleaning , both liquid and solids, shall be disposed of at the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 1321 Merrillville Road, Crown Point, Indiana 46307.

Contractor must coordinate disposal with City Wastewater Plant Manager, Chris Previs capable of being washed down the sewer without causing any potential obstruction in the sewer may be washed down the sewer unless chemicals are used as part of the cleaning process.

Objects that cannot be washed down the sewer shall be physically removed and disposed of at the Contractor's expense .

b. If the initial water blast cannot be utilized due to structural conditions in the manhole or it does not remove all deposits, then a solution of muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) at a ratio of one part acid to ten parts water shall be applied by spraying from above the manhole. After the acid solution is applied, it shall be washed off completely, and the manhole shall be allowed to dry. The mixing, application, and removal of the acid solution shall be done in strict accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and safety procedures. All waste materials resulting from the cleaning operation shall be removed from the manhole being cleaned and properly disposed of by the Contractor.

Examine surface to receive restoration mortar. Notify the Owner if surfaces are not acceptable. Do not begin surface preparation or application until unacceptable conditions have been corrected.

Prepare surfaces in accordance with lining manufacturer's instructions.

Provide the Owner with a minimum of three workdays advance notice of completion of surface preparation and start of application.

Inspect cleaned surfaces to identify and mark corroded reinforcing steel, and to locate cracks, leaks, and joints.

Replace or treat corroded reinforcing steel, repair cracks and leaks and treat joints in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and as approved by the COR.

All pipes penetrating manhole wall shall have exposed perimeters sealed.
