Good Morning Andrew, The short answer is yes. I must refer you to the Buy American and Balance of Payments Program DFARS Clause in the solicitation 252.225-7001. Italy is a qualifying country to business with, however, our responsibility in this clause is to purchase from American manufactures if at all possible. The contracting officer would have to justify purchasing from Italy via a memorandum of record and the cost of manufacturing in the US would have to be greater than 50% more expensive than the cost of manufacturing in Italy.
Please refer to that clause for more questions specific to manufacturing outside of the US.

Bradley, Would it be ok to buy these gears from a manufacture in Italy? They have a sales team in the US.
Just want to verify.

Good Morning Andrew, The Project Team answered with the below:
The new sector gears should not be castings. They should be steel weldments as shown on the contract documents.

Hello Bradley, The existing sector gears are made of cast steel. The contract drawings lay out a design for new sector gears as steel weldments created from ASTM A572, Gr. 50 and AISI 4130.

Bradley, Can you confirm that the Sector gears MK. 22/3-1 are existing or if we need to quote (4) new gears?
If we have to have these made new I may need a bit longer to find someone that still makes these new from a casting. Call to discuss if necessary. 812-944-6941
Thank you, Andrew Engleman Estimator / Project Manager
