QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

W912P522Q0006- Amendment 0001 JPP Powerplant Batteries

Nashville, TN Questions and Answers

1) Question: Do battery pallets provided need to be lift certified per section 1.2? We have used a crane to move like pallets in the past, but they do not have any lift certifications that we are aware of.

Asnwer: The pallets only need to be certified if they have lifting eyes. If slings can go through or under the pallets then we can waive the certification requirement. It is expected that the pallets will be reasonably well constructed. If that is not the case when they show up on site then they may be deemed not safe to use. If you have any product data or photographs of the pallets you would like to send for consideration then that may be helpful.

2) Question: Does the charger AC need to be separated and placed into a conduit, or is it ok as is in the cable tray?

Answer: The installation will be compliant with the National Electric Code. Conductors rated for cable tray and consistent with the contract specs should be acceptable. Cabling leaving the tray will be installed and protected IAW NEC.

3) Question: What is the required re-charge time and continuous site load? This is needed to size the battery chargers.

Answer: The continuous site load is 40A on average. This is normally shared between two chargers. The existing chargers are rated for 50A continuous output by each charger.

IAW IEEE 450, it is expected that the manufacturer of the battery and chargers will determine the re-charge time based upon cell chemistry and construction as well as charger design. We will say that 24 hours is acceptable as long as this time period is consistent with the previous statement and will not cause damage or degradation to the supplied products.

4) Question: Two (2) chargers for redundancy, right? Answer: Correct.

Question: Will they operate in parallel? Answer: Yes, normally.

5) Question: Where is the comprehensive list (vendors document list VDL) of required documents, testing reports, submittals, etc? I see comments at the end of each section in the technical specs, but there should be one comprehensive list indicating all docs required and when they are required.

Answer: There is no comprehensive list of documents. Each section of the specifications describes the required documents to be submitted along with the time period for submission.

6) Question: Testing to be performed?

Answer: This being a Commercial Product the Government relies on the Contractor to apply industry standard product testing for Quality Assurance. As long as the testing is performed in

W912P522Q0006 accordance with industry standards and the product passes the Government inspection for receipt we’re good.

7) Question: What is the model of the current Battery Charger?

Answer: Manufacturer is Exide, Model is US-130-3-50, and Catalog number is 101 371 209
