W912J2‐17‐Q‐3002 – AV Upgrade

Question and Answer Document

1. In the Briefing Room 108, please confirm that the outer 82” displays have two inputs connected to them; one from a wall plate below each display and the other from the video switcher.

A: The outer 82" displays will have two possible inputs ‐ but only the one from the wall plate below the display will be connected during the project. The input that comes from the video switcher will terminate behind the display for future use.

2. Under the “Functionality and Technical Design” section, the sentence that begins with, “The functionality of the smaller spaces” appears to infer additional spaces. During the walk‐through, the only spaces referred to were the Briefing Room 108 and the adjacent Classroom 104. Please confirm that these are the only two areas being addressed for video and audio.

A: Originally, there was one additional area that was going to require engineering. That language was left in error. Only the Mass Briefing Area and adjacent classroom will require video and audio.

3. Please confirm that the display in Classroom 104 will have a local connection below the display and an input feed from the central video switcher.

A: Yes, there will be existing receptacle boxes with conduit that extends into the ceiling for the display in classroom 104.

4. Please confirm the finished ceiling height.

A: The ceiling height within the SOW was incorrect. The actual height is 9' 7".

5. Please clarify how the owner furnished Polycom HDX7000 portable video conferencing cart will connect to the system.

A: The HDX7000 will utilize an input receptacle that is located on the East wall of the Mass Briefing Room. This will integrate with the video switcher and will have the ability to be shown in on half, the whole, or the entire building as the user sees fit.

6. Please confirm that there are no microphones required for voice reinforcement.

A: Due to the medium size of the space, microphones are not required at this time. However, the system should be engineered in a way to where they could be added later as an additional capability of the system.

7. How will the owner furnished KVM switches be installed? Will they sit on a piece of furniture or be wall mounted for example?

A: The KVMs will be placed on a desk on either side of the Mass Briefing Room along with smaller monitors and peripheral devices.

8. How will the owner furnished KVM switches be controlled? Via USB or keyboard commands or other?

A: The KVM switch is push‐button enabled on the device itself to perform the switching functions.

9. Where will the owner furnished PCs be physically located and how will they be installed? Will they be simply floor standing computers or laptops?

A: The PCs will be co‐located with the KVMs on either side of the Mass Briefing Room and will be desktop computers. They will either sit under or on top of furniture provided by the customer.

No. As the AV equipment rack is purely in an equipment space, there isn't a need for this aesthetic feature.

Does AV Contractor need to supply any cooling?

No. The room, if necessary, will have additional HVAC installed to account for the heat output of the equipment. Fan assemblies within the rack will also be added by the customer if found to be necessary.

Does AV contactor need to supply UPS and or power conditioning?

No. The owner will furnish sufficient UPS equipment within the rack. The UPS will directly feed the power strips to aid in graceful shutdowns in the case of a power outage.
