SECTION 01 22 00.10 Page 5

b. Barge Load

(1) If delivered by barge, stone will be measured for payment by the Contracting Officer by weight determined by barge displacement.

All measurements for determing gauging tables and for calculating loads are to be made in still water close to the work site. The gauging table shall be based upon 62.4 lb/cf in fresh water and 64 lb/cf in salt water. Furnish the Contracting Officer a barge displacement table not less than 10 work days prior to unloading the stone from any barge. Each table submitted shall show the name and/or number of the barge owner, the name of the fabricator, and the certification and date of certification of the person or firm preparing the table. Furnish with the barge displacement tables a drawing or sketch of each barge, dimensioned in sufficient detail to permit checking of the tables. The drawings shall show, as a minimum, the length, width, depth of the barge, and dimensions of the rake or rakes. Each such table shall have its accuracy certified by a person or firm, other than the Contractor, customarily performing this service. Each table submitted shall contain, in parallel columns, the freeboard of the barge in feet and tenths from zero to the full depth of the barge and the corresponding gross displacement to the nearest ton. Each barge shall be suitably marked with three displacement gaging locations on each side near each end of the barge and two amidships on opposite sides. Each gaging location shall be marked by a line perpendicular to the edge of the barge, 4 inches wide and 1 foot long, on both the deck and side of the bargeand two amid ship on opposite sides. Barges with rakes shall have the displacement gaging lines placed at each corner of the box section between the rakes. If a barge has a box end or ends, the gaging locations shall be placed approximately 4 feet from the box end(s). The freeboard will be measured at the six gaging locations and the displacement determined by the use of "STANDARD BARGE TABLES" from the average of these measurements. The displacement will be determined before and after being unloaded and the difference between these values shall be the quantity delivered. Submit the Gaging Table Data, stone hauling vessel, gaging tables and a copy of the data and calculations used for the preparation of the tables. Barges shall be loaded so that the readings taken at the gaging locations do not vary more than 1.5 feet port to starboard fore and aft and do not vary more than 0.5 feet port to starboard. If such is not the case, trim the carrier by shifting the stone until this limit is reached, before the measurement will be accepted. The draft shall be determined from the average of all six readings weighting the readings of the middle gage at double those of the end gages. (G1 + G2 + 2xG3 + 2xG

4 + G5 + G6) divided by 8 = average draft. All carriers used in transporting stone shall be free of leaks such as would render accurate gauging difficult. Facilities for inspecting the hold of each carrier to determine whether leakage is occurring shall be provided. Each carrier shall also be provided with adequate pumping facilities, and if water is found to be accumulating in the hold, the carrier shall be pumped dry before each gaging, both before and after unloading. Lightening by pumping or by transfer of crew or supplies will not be permitted while stone is being transferred. Rejected stone and unacceptable material shall be left aboard the barge until after the final readings have been taken.

PART 2 PRODUCTS (Not Used)

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 Pre and Post Construction Survey

Multibeam Hydrographic, Topographic light detection and ranging (LiDAR)and Aerial Imagery Surveys shall be performed before any repair work of the CCSCentrance channel jetties is initiated and after repair work is completed. The surveys shall encompass the area depicted on the plans.

The Contractor shall perform and provide records of multi-beam hydrographic and side-scan sonar surveys of the toe foundation and toe construction. He shall obtain approval from the Contracting Officer to proceed, prior to placing any stone on the side slopes or on the crown of the jetties. All horizontal control is to be referenced to the Texas State Plane Grid Coordinate System, South Zone, North American Datum, US feet, NAD 1983.

Vertical control shall be North American Vertical Datum 1988 feet, (NAVD88). The contractor will coordinate and receive approval of benchmarks to be used for the surveys with the Contracting Officer prior to proceeding with the surveys.

3.1.1 Multibeam Hydrographic Surveys

The contractor shall perform a multibeam hydrographic survey of the pre and post constructed CCSC entrance channel jetties and Aransas Pass using GPS in conjunction with various hardware and software such as Hypack, aspractical due to water depths at the time of the survey. A vessel(s) shall be provided capable of operating in the identified survey areas and equipped with sufficient conventional and automated equipment for acquiring multibeam data to perform the hydrographic survey. Some areas identified within survey areas will not be safe to operate a vessel when collecting multibeam data and gaps in data coverage between multibeam and LiDAR data may occur as a result. These areas include the outside (Gulf side) of the jetties where the offshore bathymetry transitions to the surf zone and adjacent to the jetties. To maximize data coverage, multibeam surveys shall be coordinated to occur during or around the time of high tides.

Tide predictions and actual tide levels for the multibeam survey areas are to be referenced to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration tide stition: Aransas, Aransas Pass, TX - Station ID:8775241 (https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stationhome.html?id=8775241). Actual tidal levels can vary greatly from predicted tidal levels due to atmospheric conditions, the contractor shall be cognizant of these

SECTION 02 21 00.10 45 Page 4 conditions and contact the DSR in order to proceed if the actual tide level is significantly below the predicted tide level. All bathymetric data will be roll, pitch, heave, and tide corrected using best practices. Sound velocity corrections will be applied based on measurements made during and throughout the duration of the survey. Calibrations of survey equipment will be in accordance with the Corps Hydrographic Surveying Manual EM 1110-2-1003. An uncertainty or error analysis will be conducted on the bathymetric dataset. This analysis will quantify (vertical) uncertainty for each survey based on best management practices. A methods and uncertainty analysis report, field notes, and metadata must be submitted with the processed bathymetric data products.

3.1.2 Topographic LiDAR and Aerial Imagery Survey

The contractor shall perform a topographic LiDAR survey and concurrent aerial imagery collection of the CCSC entrance channel jetties. LiDAR surveys are to be performed with a drone mounted LiDAR sensor with vertical and horizontal accuracy of the LiDAR data less than 0.13 feet. To maximize data coverage the LiDAR survey and aerial imagery acquisition shall be coordinated to occur during or around the time of low tides. Tide predictions and actual tide levels for survey a.reas are to be reference to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration tide station: Aransas,- Aransas Pass, TX - Station ID: 8775241 (https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stationhome.html?id=8775241). Actual tidal levels can vary -greatly from predicted tidal levels due to atmospheric conditions .

LiDAR data is to be verified by obtaining ground shots using transit or RTK GPS, of features or targets within the survey area that are discernable in the LiDAR dataset and/or transects across the survey area. A minimum of ten verification locations are required for the northern CCSC jetty and eight verification locations for the south jetty. Ground verification locations are to be evenly spaced as practical throughout the survey area.

Point density shall be a minimum of three points per square foot. LiDAR points are required to have attributes for X, Y, and Z values to the nearest thousandth, laser intensity, classification, and RGB values derived from imagery collected concurrently with the LiDAR dataset.

LiDAR data shall have noise and returns from the water surface removed from the final dataset. LiDAR is to be classified, at a minimum, for bare earth and vegetation. Classification methods shall not adjust the horizontal or vertical position of the LiDAR data .

3.1.3 Side Scan Sonar Imagery Collection

The contractor shall perform a side scan imagery collection of the pre and post constructed CCSC jetties and Aransas Pass concurrent with the multibeam survey. The side scan sonar system shall be operated in a manner that is capable of detecting an object that measures 1.5 feet cubed from shadow length. The side scan sonar shall be towed at a speed such that a detected object in the channel would receive a minimum of three pings per pass. Scanning coverage will be 125 percent. Calibrations and quality checks of equipment will be in accordance with the Corps Hydrographic Surveying Manual EM 1110-2-1003. A final report of contacts will be submitted by the contractor that identifies all anomalous features and provide a contact plot (image) and information for each contract at a minimum including: track number, contact number, contact range, contact position, estimate of contact height, width and volume computed from range

SECTION 02 21 00.10 45 Page 5 and shadow length, elevation. (in NAVD 88 feet) derived from the multibeam survey, remarks to denote first impression of contact's identitY or other pertinent information.
