SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SPECIFICATION CHANGES
Note: Additions are shown as underlined.
Section 46 07 53.13, PACKAGED WASTEWATER TREATMENT EQUIPMENT, AERATION, has been revised as follows:
a. Paragraph 2.3, STEEL CONSTRUCTION, is revised to read as follows:
“The WWTP shall be built of ¼-inch minimum thickness structural grade steel plate and shall be designed to withstand normal soil pressures when installed below grade and hydrostatic pressures when installed above grade.Required welding shall be in accordance the American Welding Society's Structural Welding Code (AWS D1.1/D1.1M)and AWWA D100. All welded structural members shall be joined by electric arc welding with fillets of adequate section for the joint involved. Welds shall be continuous inside and out where required for sectional strength or water tightness. The structural components shall be joined by welding as described above and meet AISC welded joint specifications. All necessary bulkheads shall be factory installed. The entire WWTP shall be installed on minimum 8" steel I-beams to keep the plant off the ground and concrete. The connection of the I-beams to the concrete and the I-beams to the WWTP shall be a positive connection. The contractor shall design these connections. Acceptable connections shall include bolted connections, anchor bolts, and welded connections. Anchor bolts installed in concrete shall be stainless steel. Other positive connections designed by the contractor can also be proposed.”
b. Paragraph 2.5, EQUALIZATION TANK , is revised to read as follows:
“The equalization tank shall have a minimum capacity of 10,000 gallons.
The equalization tank shall allow for a constant flow through the plant by equalizing flow surges that may be incurred during peak flow times.
The tank shall contain a duplex set of progressing cavity pumps to transfer the sewage to the aeration tank at a constant rate. The constant rate shall be adjustable based on the flow coming into the tank or at the Operator's direction. An emergency overflow will be provided between the equalization and aeration chamber.
The tank shall have aeration diffuser(s) to provide adequate air to prevent the occurrence of anaerobic conditions. Diffused air shall be provided by the plant blower system.
Liquid level sensors will regulate the pumps and blower/motor unit. Controls will be provided in the plant control panel.
The contractor can provide alternate methods for metering the flow from the equalization basin. System shall be designed by the contractor and any alternate method of flow control needs to be equivalent to the progressing cavity pumps and also adjustable.”
