SURVEYOR’S REPORT
Hydrographic Examination Survey Manatee Harbor, 40-Foot Project
Zone 10 Manatee County, FL Survey No. 19-098
Survey Report Prepared by: James Allison, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District.
Project: Manatee Harbor 40-Foot Project, Zone 10, Examination Survey.
Location: Manatee County, Florida
Date: Field data was acquired from 29 January, 01-02 February, 2019
Right of Access: Access to Port Manatee is required through Manatee Harbor Port Operations POC (Access to port facilities Mr. George Isiminger [941-722-6621]).
Personnel: USACE-LRB System Operator: Dustin Dell; Boat Operator: Nicholaus Jackson
Datum: The horizontal coordinates are referenced to the State Plane Coordinate System, Florida West, Zone 0902, North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). Depths depicted by this survey are referenced to Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) Tidal Datum, Epoch 1983-2001, as reported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
KTD File: SPC-FL-West-2010-12-07.ktd was used for relating NAVD88 to MLLW.
Instruments: The following instruments were used for data collection:
R. Witmer
Data Collection Software HYPACK 2017a
Sounder R2Sonic 2024 Multibeam System Odom Singlebeam
Positioning Applanix Pos Wavemaster Trimble R8 Receiver /TDL 450H Radio Modem
IMU Applanix Pos Wavemaster
Field Procedures: This survey was performed utilizing Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS. The base receiver established at “NOS 6384 K 2004” was used for entire survey. A tide staff was set from survey monument “872 6384 C” to verify RTK tides. See Appendix A and B for additional station information.

Tidal reductions were obtained utilizing RTK and referenced to MLLW using a HYPACK KTD file provided by Geomatics section, titled “SPC-FL-West-2010-12-07.ktd.” A tide staff was set benchmark “872 6384 C TIDAL.”
Tides were read before and after daily survey operations to verify RTK tide readings.
Bar checks were performed to measure draft correction and speed of sound velocity prior to survey operations.
Sound velocity corrections were also verified using an YSI Castaway velocity probe.
Data Processing: The survey data was processed upon completion of the survey. Sounding spikes were removed and statistics were performed on the data in the office between cross sections and longitudinal check lines with no statistical anomalies noted.
Singlebeam HFvsLF Determination: Some pockets of fluff were identified inside the turning basin but these areas are small and do not represent a systematic difference between the single beam frequencies. Survey recommends utilizing MB HF for the entire project. Both MB+SB data sets were provided as part of the project submittal.
Field Conditions: Sea conditions were within hydrographic survey standards.

MAP SHEET NOTES:
1. REFER TO SURVEY NO. 19-098.
2. ELEVATIONS ARE IN FEET AND TENTHS AND REFER TO MEAN LOWER LOW WATER (MLLW) TIDAL DATUM.
3. TIDAL REDUCTIONS WERE OBTAINED UTILIZING REAL-TIME KINEMATIC (RTK) GPS AND USING A HYPACK
KINEMATIC TIDAL DATUM (KTD) FILE. FILE NAME: SPC-FL-WEST-2010-12-07.KTD.
4. ALL ELEVATIONS ARE BELOW THE CHART DATUM UNLESS PRECEEDED BY A (+) SIGN.
5. PLANE COORDINATES ARE BASED ON THE TRANSVERSE MERCATOR PROJECTION FOR THE WEST ZONE OF
FLORIDA AND REFERENCED TO THE NORTH AMERICAN DATUM OF 1983 (NAD 83).
6. THIS SURVEY WAS PERFORMED USING REAL-TIME KINEMATIC GPS POSITIONING WITH THE FOLLOWING
REFERENCE BASE LOCATION:
REFERENCE BASE LOCATED AT “872 6384 K 2004”, OPUS PID: BBBT27
TIDE STAFF WAS SET IN THE NORTHERN MOST BULKHEAD OF MANATEE HARBOR FROM NOS BM “872 6384 C”
7. DEPTHS DEPICTED BY THIS SURVEY ARE REFERENCED TO MEAN LOWER LOW WATER (MLLW), TIDAL EPOCH 1983-2001, AS REPORTED BY THE NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION (NOAA). NOAA’S VDATUM MODEL WAS USED AND CALIBRATED TO THE PUBLISHED MLLW HEIGHTS OF THE BENCHMARKS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE TIDE GAGE SITE SECIFIED BELOW:
NOAA TIDAL STATION 872-6384, PORT MANATEE, TAMPA BAY, FL.
8. VERTICAL MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE USING AN EDGETECH 6205 BATHYMETRY AND SIDE-SCAN SYSTEM AS THE PRIMARY SOUNDER AND A ROSS MODEL 835 SMARTSOUNDER SINGLE BEAM SYSTEM OPERATING AT 28
AND 200 KHZ FOR SINGLE-BEAM CHECK LINES. SOUNDINGS SHOWN ARE IN HIGH-FREQUENCY.
