MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Solicitation No. W912EP-17-B-0002 Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project, Miami-Dade County, Florida Beach Nourishment 2017 Sunny Isles Beach Pre Bid Site Visit
1. A pre bid site visit was held for subject project on 20 June 2017 at 10:30 am to give the prospective contractor’s a chance to see the site prior to bids.
2. The list of contractors attending the site visit is attached.
3. The contractors were advised to write down any questions they may have and submit them via Projnet.
4. The site visit consisted of meeting at the Lehman Causeway Parking Lot located at 19162 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. At this location, the contractors were welcomed and briefed on the project features as well as the 4 locations we would be stopping at throughout the pre-bid site visit. Prior to commencing the site visit, the contractors were informed that there will be a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) asphalt resurfacing project ongoing within the limits of the project along Collins Avenue throughout the duration of the construction and that they should consider this during the preparation of the bids.
In addition, the contractors were informed that a third access point located at 17501 Collins Avenue was expected to be incorporated into the solicitation through an amendment with restrictions for its use.
5. Once the initial brief was complete, we proceeded to the northern access/staging area located at the Ellen Wynne Beach Access Lot (19333 Collins Avenue) to allow the contractors the opportunity to look at the access/staging area and work area for the Base contract, as well as Option A, and Option B. From here we proceeded to the southern access/staging area located at the north end of Haulover Beach to allow the contractors to the opportunity to look at the access/staging area and work area for Options C and D. Prior to leaving this location, we informed the contractors that due to the size of the group and limited parking spaces near the pier, we would not be able to stop there. However, we recommended for each to look at the area after the visit or at a later time, since it is open to the public. The last stop was the third access point located at 17501 Collins Avenue that we informed the group at the beginning of the site visit may be added to the solicitation through amendment. At this location we showed the contractors the access corridor that is located along the north side of the building on the property, as well as the beach area located behind the property.
6. This stop concluded the site visit. Prior to adjourning, the contractors were reminded to ensure they read through all of the requirements in the contract, to submit any questions they may have in Projnet, and that a third access point was being considered to be included in the solicitation through amendment, and to make note of all the other ongoing traffic and construction located along Collins Avenue between the project limits.
7. The POC for this action is the undersigned at 904-304-5364.
