C.3.1.12 Firebreak Mowing involves mowing established firebreaks that are 15- 20’ feet wide. Firebreaks are regularly and consist of grass, weeds, other herbaceous vegetation, and woody growth up to 2” at base. The mowing height shall be no higher than 4” unless requested by the COR. The contractor must mow the specified width and/or maintain previous mowing configurations. It is likely that tree limbs, branches and leaves will rub and scratch equipment. It is not permissible to adjust mowing areas to avoid contact with equipment. It is permissible to prune interfering branches in firebreaks up to 10’ from the ground level. The contractor is responsible to remove limbs and trees that fall within the mowed area. The debris can be pushed to the fence line or off the field site but must remain on USACE property. The contractor is NOT responsible for large-scale, catastrophic damage as a result of high winds or major storms. The contractor is also NOT responsible for removing tree or other debris deposited within the firebreak area as a result of flooding.

The contractor shall complete all Firebreak Mowing within 30 calendar days of the task delivery order start date.

C.3.1.13 Roadside Mowing includes mowing in remote areas along roads that provide public access to natural resource areas. Mowing is typically 10’ feet from the road edge toward the ditch.
