Question
The specification has named the HUD standard for this building; however, in some places the building is referred to as a “bunkhouse” or “park model RV,” which both have different standards from HUD. Which is the correct standard?
Answer
The government is purchasing a single-wide mobile home, designed for use by a single family, following the HUD standard. All references to “bunkhouse” or “park model RV” should be ignored.
Homes come with clear glass shower doors, and “to order” sometimes pushes the lead time back. Can the door be changed after the home is set up?
The requirement for frosted glass door(s) has been removed from the specification.
Factory installation of the power supply may also push the lead time back. Can the power supply be installed after the home is set up?
Yes.
Does the customer need a commercial propane furnace and water heater? Or is there a certain BTU that can be met?
The intent was that “commercially available” (available for sale to the general public) units be installed, not “commercial grade” units. Units that provide building heat and water heating sufficient to meet HUD Code will be adequate.
