About this file

The file is a PowerPoint presentation for a virtual Industry Day regarding the Willapa Harbor Maintenance Dredging project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Seattle District. The project involves maintenance dredging of three federal navigation features in Willapa Bay, Washington: Bay Center Entrance Channel, Nahcotta Entrance Channel, and Tokeland Entrance Channel, with an additional dredging segment in the Palix River/Bay Center Access Lane. The total dredging volume is estimated at up to 180,000 cubic yards, with specific authorized dredging depths ranging from -9 to -15 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW), including a +1 to +2 feet overdepth allowance.

The project is scheduled for fiscal year 2026-2027, with anticipated contract award in January/February 2026 and dredging operations constrained by specific environmental in-water work windows: Bay Center/Palix River (16 July - 30 September 2026), Nahcotta (16 July 2026 - 01 February 2027), and Tokeland (16 July 2026 - 14 February 2027). The solicitation will likely be an Invitation for Bids open to both large and small businesses, with a significant portion of work potentially classified as Optional Items. Contractors should be prepared for challenging conditions, including exposed Pacific Ocean entrance, unmaintained channels, shifting shoals, and unpredictable weather. The last USACE maintenance dredging in these areas occurred in 2002 for Bay Center and Tokeland, and 1987 for Nahcotta.
