About this file
This solicitation is for a maintenance dredging project on the Lower Wicomico River in Wicomico County, Maryland. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District is seeking hydraulic dredging of approximately 120,000 cubic yards of predominantly silty material from the lower half of the Wicomico River to a depth of 14 feet. Dredged material will be piped approximately 8 miles on average to a placement site totaling around 70 acres, located in a Wildlife Management Area impoundment. The pipeline will be placed above an existing berm and utilize a diffuser to lower the velocity of discharged material. Around 11,000 straw bales will be stacked to contain placed dredged material for wetland restoration and increased migratory bird habitat. Approximately 20 tidal ditch plugs of varying sizes will also be constructed. Vegetation planting will occur over two growing seasons after material placement to restore wetlands, utilizing Spartina patens and Distichlis spicata grass species. This is a 100% small business set-aside solicitation under NAICS code 237990.
