Wastewater - General Information Reporting
American Water (AW) should have control over most of the wastewater assests. The installation is working with DLA and AW to transfer stranded assests that are located throughout the installation. AW is responsible for all reporting to the regulatory agency, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ). AW responds to, and complete's all discharge reporting of the SSOs to VADEQ. ENRD is only responsible for discussions and reporting to the Fairfax County's Noman Cole Pollution Control Plant. There is no Pre-Treatment Permit with Fairfax County. Based upon recent sampling at 8 locations throughout the installation, where the installation discharges into the county's main interceptor, the levels were within the criteria as set forth by the county except at Woodlawn Village. The contractor (EA) is completing sampling investigations regarding Woodlawn Village (housing) having an unusually high mercury discharge. Further investigative sampling in on-going by the Contractor (EA). As a result, the county has determined that a Pre-Treatment Permit is not necessary at this time while Fort Belvoir is still investigating the mercury results.
