Description: Install Automatic Entry/Exit Doors at the Commissary

Location: BLDG 601, Fort Greely, Alaska

Questions and Answers

1. QUESTION:

The SOW requires the clear opening space to be 42". In order for this to happen, per supplier, we need a rough opening space of 97". The inside dimension of the vestibule is less than what is required. What is the desired process for installing these 2 doors?

ANSWER:

This is discussed and shown in the SOW. Look at attached drawings L‐3 and L‐4 for a visual representation of mounting locations and instructions. Also discussed in the SOW sections 2.1.2, 2.2.2, 2.3.2, 2.4.2. This question does specify which two doors are in question. The two exterior doors will require the doorways to be widened. The two interior doors will need to be mounted on one side of the wall or the other as shown in L‐3 and L‐4.

2. QUESTION:

The SOW, line 2.1.3, states, "This door shall come with a heat strip on the motor. The heat strip shall be set to heat at a minimum when motor temperatures are below ‐30 . The heat strip shall run off the12V batteries installed as part of the automatic door system". The Series 3000 doors, do not come with a heat strip, thermostatic control, or 12V batteries as part of the automatic door system. It sounds like this is a custom build, of some sort. Please clarify what is required.

Yes, the heat strip and thermostatic control will be an addition to the door. They do not come as a standard option. I revised the SOW for the heaters. The previous information was incorrect.

Power requirements for the heating strip will depend on the strip used.

3. QUESTION:

I did not see an environmental report associated with this project. Is there any ACM, or other hazardous material that we need to be concerned about?

See attachment 5 for the environmental review. To my knowledge, there is not expected to be any hazardous material concerns.

4. QUESTION:

Can we see the structural drawings for the vestibule?

ANSWER:

Please see attachment 6 "A‐10 Wall Sections HPC2610M.PDF" for vestibule structural drawings.

Attached the wall section for the vestibule built around 1980 and changed in 2009 for ADA compliance. EIFS (6") was added in 2012 by Bradshaw Corporation, Inc. Color of the EIFS is Senergy #3025 Paprika.
