Responses to Questions Warehouse CEOPAZ
1. An existing overhead primary service runs parallel to the existing warehouse on the south side; it is anticipated that the overhead primary lines will run over the new warehouse roof structure, once finished. Minimum clearance between the new roof structure and existing lines will not be achieved. Indicate if it’s the contractor’s responsibility to relocate the existing electrical service, in order to meet minimum clearances required.
Response: Contractor shall relocate existing electrical service cable/feeder in order to meet minimum clearances. Contractor shall refer to Sections 5.2.3, 5.2. 4, 5.2.5, 5.15.1.3, 5.15.1.5, 5.15.1.6, and 5.15.2.4. In section 5.15.1.6 specifically refer to contractor to the UFGS 33 71 01 Overhead transmission and distribution lines.
Section 5.15.2.4 talks about the projection and indicated that modifications will be provided to existing system as required. Section 5.15.1.5 also indicated that drawings, specifications, and other design documents upon which construction is based should be coordinated with other disciplines to insure compatibility of all building systems, components, structures, clearances, equipment protection and control. Therefore it is contractor responsibility to relocate any electrical service to meet above specifications.
2. Scope of work calls for the construction of a new septic system and leach field on the west side of the new building. Currently an existing sewer line serving the Administrative Building runs parallel to the existing warehouse, on the south side. Indicate if new warehouse can connect to the existing sewer service, eliminating the need to construct a septic system and leach field.
Response: Section 5.17.1.5 Septic Tank of the statement of work, Technical Exhibit (TE 3_DRW) pages C101, C102, C201 are not applicable for this project.
Contractor shall connect to existing sewer line.
3. Drawing S001 requires building pad to be cut to a minimum depth of 1.50m and filled with approved compacted structural fill. Project specifications require a Geotechnical Investigation and that foundation and structure of the Warehouse be deigned based on the soil studies. Confirm that foundations shall be designed based on the soil studies results and that excavation and backfill depths will be determined based on the Geotechnical Engineer recommendations.
Response: Correct contractor shall design foundation, structural elements, and roof in accordance to the geotechnical engineer recommendations. Refer to Section 5.2.
This section has detail information not only for the foundation but all other elements that required professional engineer’s validation.
4. Paragraph 5.15.3.3.4 of the project specifications requires the construction of a grounding system capable of removing lightning discharges to the building. Clarify if project scope of work requires the supply and installation of a roof mounted lightning protection system, in accordance with NFPA 780.
Response: Yes contractor shall supply and install roof mounted lighting protection system in accordance with NFPA 780. Refer to Sections 5.2.3, 5.15.1.2, 5.15.1.3, and
5.15.3.3.4. These sections in addition to the Site Engineering Section (5.2.4) require that contractor shall consider existing condition and local codes to validate designs.
5. As part of the communication system, the scope of work requires a Work Station Outlet
(WSO) with two copper connectivity paths connected to RJ-45 jacks with box and cover plate. Project documents do not indicate how many WSOs are required and their locations; please clarify.
Response: Refer to TE 3_DRW. Contractor shall install four (4) WSOs in the Office.
6. Paragraph 17 of the Submittal Schedule indicates that proof of authorization/registration to do business in El Salvador needs to be submitted. Clarify the type of documentation being required.
Response: Contractor shall submit any and all documentation that provides proof of authorization/registration to do business in El Salvador when directed by the Contracting Officer. Refer to DFARs clause 252.225-7042.
7. Paragraph 5.8.4.1 Aluminum Windows requires the supply and installation of thermal break double-glazed type units conforming to AAMA 101. Response: Windows shall be installed IAW Section 5.8.4.1. TE 2_DRW design shall be corrected to reflect the correct window type.
8. Project documents do not specify if the new electric service shall be tapped to the existing pole mounted transformers located east from the warehouse or if a new pole mounted transformer shall be considered; please clarify.
Response: Contractor shall consider the electrical load before tapping into existing pole mounted transformer. Contractor shall determine if the existing transformer has the required capacity. Refer to Sections 5.15.1.2 Load Analysis, 5.15.2.1
