Solicitation # W912CL-17-R-0006

1. According to section 5.5 of the SOW, the 150,000 gallon cistern for additional water storage is to be constructed with reinforced concrete. Is it permissible to offer another option for building material other than the reinforced concrete?

Yes, contractors can provide alternative building materials when constructing the cistern. Contractors proposing alternate building materials must guarantee at least 20 years of life expectancy. If a contractor is considering a metal material, the contractor shall provide galvanized steel or better. If a contractor is recommending a plastic material, the contractor shall provide UV resistance material with a life expectancy of at least 20 years. When submitting a proposal with alternate building material, the contractor shall provide catalog cut or schematics with the proposal.

2. As referenced in question #1, can a contractor price multiple alternatives for building materials?

Yes. Contractors may present pricing for multiple building materials for the cistern (concrete, steel, plastic etc.)
