Task – T2017410 ACOE Driftmaster – 148’ Steel Catamaran
ABS Pre-Contact Design Review prior to
Request for Class Flag: United States of America
Attention: Mr. Cory Wood, Bristol Harbor Group (WCN: 738552)
The documents shown in the attached list are reviewed in accordance with the applicable requirements of the following:
• ABS Rules for Building and Classing Steel Vessels Under 90 meters (295 feet) in
Length, 2018 as amended
• International Convention on Load Lines 1966, as amended
Please note our review is based on the following conditions:
1. On a consultative basis, the plans have also been reviewed for compliance with the
U.S. Coast Guard Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 10‒82, CH−2, and have been found satisfactory subject to the work being carried out to the satisfaction of the Surveyor. Subject plan review on behalf of U.S. Coast Guard is contingent upon U.S. Coast Guard's issuance of a letter authorizing ABS to conduct plan review on their behalf. Please forward this USCG letter to our office as soon as possible. The drawings have not been approved on behalf of the USCG. Please resubmit the drawings together with the USCG authorization letter.
2. We recognize that the submitted drawings are intended for basic design only. As such, the subject review has been focused on verifying compliance reflective of the detail shown in the submitted drawing and identifying noncompliance items with the applicable Rules and Code(s) listed above. Review for full compliance with the
Rules and Code(s), such as complete Bill of Materials for piping, valves and specialty items and certificates/cut sheets for system components is to be carried out during the review of the detail design.
3. Once the vessel is contracted for construction, the drawing is to be resubmitted to
ABS for detailed review for Classification.
4. It should be noted that our review at this time in no way precludes any future amendments which may be deemed necessary by submission and review of detailed drawings for Classification.

L-010 740-B730-02 - Navigation Lighting Plan
Technical
Per COLREGS ANNEX I 9(b)(I), "all-round lights shall be located as not to be obstructed by masts, topmasts or structures within angular sectors of more than 6 degrees". It is unclear from this drawing what the obstructed sector of the lights are due to the A-Frame. This would also apply to masthead lights. Please advise.
