Question Set #2

6-12-2025

- Is a code stamp required for ASME B31.1 weld spec?

o No.

- In the event winter weather conditions do not permit outdoor coatings activities, is it acceptable to complete coatings activities indoors with proper containment measures? If so, please confirm what areas would be acceptable locations to setup temporary containment for coatings activities to take place.

o With proper containment and ventilation (provided by the contractor) the heavy equipment room or a section of the erection bay may be used for coating activities.

- For the temporary 3000GPM pump setup, is 480V/3phase available? If so, please confirm where the closest 480V/3phase connection point is located in proximity to the sump pit at Elevation

2000?

o One 480V, 3 phase, 50-amp receptacle is available for use in the heavy equipment room on the wall adjacent to the existing unwatering pump motors. The existing sump pumps have a capacity of 175GPM each (two total). These pumps are typically enough capacity to maintain the sump elevation and not allow the water to overflow the sump. The main unwatering pump that are being replaced under this contract are designed to assist with sump elevation control if the sump float reaches the upper limits of the float system. In a certain rare situation, the existing unwatering pump may have to assisted if the sump elevation approaches overflowing the sump. The current condition of the remaining unwatering pump was tested to have a flow rate of 1400GPM, so in a high sump situation the capacity current would be approx. 1750GPM from the system. The contractor must control the sump water elevation such that the sump water elevation does not exceed

2022.5’ EL and is at an acceptable level for the contractor personnel to complete the sump component replacement.

- Can USACE please confirm the centerline elevation of the discharge line tees as highlighted in the attached screenshot?

o Measuring down from the floor of the heavy equipment room (El 2050’), the distance to the upper pipe centerline is approximately 10ft and the lower piper is approximately 12ft.

- We are seeking any information that they have available pertaining to the existing FARVAL system – it is old enough that the current unit is obsolete so coming up with an equivalent requires all of the original specifications and details of the existing system.

o See Photos starting on Page 3 of the existing Farval Grease System with the existing model number.
