About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for seeding issued by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Omaha. The questions and answers provide clarification that erosion control blankets are not required under the contract specifications but may be used if approved by the contracting officer's representative. Bidders should include the cost of removing excess vegetation in their pricing but should not include erosion control blankets in their initial bid as these would require a separate contract modification if deemed necessary.

Questions & Answers
Q. Is there any type of bond required?
A. No bonds are required since this is a service contract.
Q. Erosion Control blanket (ECB) at the walk through meeting said all disturb areas greater than a 5:1 will need ECB. The bid documents say not needed. Want a clarification on how it will be determined if ECB is needed.
A. ECB is not required as stated in the specifications. The contractor may get approval from the COR to use ECB if they deem it necessary.
Q. Areas where vegetation is too heavy after mowing for seed to germinate, is bid price to include removal of excess vegetation?
A. Yes, include removal of excess vegetation in the bid price.
Q. On the ECB, if deemed necessary will it be paid as a extra item or is it included in our bid price? Is there a way to bid “X” amount of ECB included?
Hard to bid 215 AC that some may or may not need ECB.
A. Do not include ECB in the quotation. If the contractor and COR agree ECB is necessary, a contract modification will be initiated for the additional cost.
