Left Bank Levee Seeding Questions and Answers

The following document complies questions during the 9/20/23 site visit and submitted to government personal.

Q: Areas where vegetation is too heavy after mowing for seed to germinate, is bid price to include removal of excess vegetation?

A: Yes, include removal of excess vegetation in the bid price.

Q: Erosion Control blanket(ECB) at the walk-through meeting said all disturb areas greater than a 5:1 will need ECB. The bid documents say not needed. Want a clarification on how it will be determined if ECB is needed.

A:ECB is not required as stated in the specifications. The contractor may get approval from the COR to use ECB if they deem it necessary.

Q:On the ECB, if deemed necessary will it be paid as a extra item or is it included in our bid price? Is there a way to bid “X” amount of ECB included? Hard to bid 215 AC that some may or may not need

ECB.

A. Do not include ECB in the quotation. If the contractor and COR agree ECB is necessary, a contract modification will be initiated for the additional cost.

Q: No till drilling would not be possible at 611-614 inlet breach due to the existing turf reinforcement mat.

A: The attached image delineates the area on 611-614 where broadcast seeding can be used.

Q:What is the area of erosion rills? For bidding purposes not having a quantified area for grading of the erosion rills will artificially inflate the bid.

A: Assume an area of 833 square yards of grading of erosion rills.
