3. Can you please clarify if grinder pumps or non clog solids handling pumps are required for this project?

a. Grinder units as stated in Section 33 32 13.13, Paragraph 2.1 – 1st paragraph, page 4. See also Section 33 32 13.13, Para 2.1.1.1b – Impellers.

Pumps larger than 20hp are unacceptable as a result of power distribution limits.

5. Did you have the site visit on August 13th? If not, will there be one or can one be requested?

6. What was the solicitation number previously for this project?

7. Section 33 32 13.13, Part 2.2.5 Pumps calls for “pumps of the non-clogging, submersible type designed to pump unscreened sewage. Provide pumps with a rated capacity as specified and is capable of passing 3-inch solids of various normal domestic sewage materials”

Cutter/grinder/slicer pumps are typically not specified using passable solid size. This is primarily because solids are screened by the cutter/grinder/slicer mechanism, only allowing small bits of the solids to pass.

Our question is which of these two requirements takes precedence? Impellers with a cutter/grinder/slicer? Or a pump that passes unscreened 3” solids?

a. See Amendment. Language was revised in Section 33 32 13.13, Part 2.2.5.

Or are the requirements listed in Appendix B: Section 33 32 13.13 PACKAGED SEWAGE LIS STATIONS, WET WELL TYPE the only requirement that need to be met?

a. Section 1.1 of the Statement of Work is just background information of the existing lift station. The new equipment shall meet all other sections of the statement of work and Section 33 32 13.13 PACKAGED SEWAGE LIS STATIONS, WET WELL TYPE.
