SUBJECT: Amendment No. 0002 to Specifications and Drawings for Construction of Middle Logan Creek, Flood Risk Management Project - Phase 1, Randolph, NE.
TO: Prospective Bidders and Others Concerned
1. The specifications and drawings for subject project are hereby modified as follows (revise all specification indices, attachment lists, and drawing indices accordingly).
a. Specifications. (Descriptive Changes.)
(1) Section 01 12 00 Page 10, add the following new paragraph:
“1.17 LIMITS OF CONSTRUCITON
Within two weeks of notice to proceed, limits of construction shall be staked out so that utility providers are able to proceed with their relocations prior to the beginning of major excavation."
(2) Section 03 11 00 Page 3, paragraph 2.1 “FORM MATERIALS”, subpart c, Delete the first sentence “Forms for bridge rails shall be made of steel, except that wood forms that are commercially manufactured to the specific shape of the rail may be permitted,” and substitute, “All concrete rails on bridges and approach slabs shall be cast-in- place. Slip-forming will not be permitted for concrete rails on bridges and approach slabs.”
(3) Section 03 20 00 Page 4, paragraph 2.6 “SUPPORTS” delete the first two sentences, “Bar supports for formed surfaces shall be designed and fabricated in accordance with CRSI 10MSP and shall be steel. Steel supports within ½ inch of concrete surface shall be galvanized, plastic protected or of stainless steel.” and substitute, “The Contractor shall position steel reinforcement in concrete walls at the proper clearance from forms by approved chairs, stays, or hangers. Reinforcing steel in concrete decks and slabs shall be positioned on plastic coated supports or chairs to accurately maintain the specified clearance to the surface of the concrete. Supports in concrete decks and slabs shall be spaced at distances not greater than 3 feet for #4 top bars or 4 feet for all other reinforcing. Reinforcing steel on bar supports shall not be used to support runways for construction equipment. If such runways are used, they shall be supported independently. Bar support units shall be standard products from a reputable manufacturer of such items. Properly sized supports shall be furnished in sufficient numbers, manufactured to serve their intended purpose, and capable of carrying imposed loads without measurable deflection or displacement of the reinforcing steel. The type and adequacy of supporting units shall be at least equal to that recommended by the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute's Manual of Standard Practice. Bar supports which are at exposed concrete surfaces shall be corrosion resistant as described in the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute's Manual of Standard Practice.”
(4) Section 03 39 00 Page 4, paragraph 3.2.1 “Curing Period.”
delete second item, “Bridge rails: 240 hours wet cure.”

(5) Section 31 62 16 Page 6, paragraph 3.1.1.1 “Impact Hammers”, line 6, delete “Hammers must be capable of hard driving in excess of 20 blows per inch.”
(6) Section 31 62 16 Page 9, paragraph 3.2.5 “Pile Driving”, delete second sentence reading “Do not drive piles within 100 feet of concrete less than 7 days old.” and substitute the following: “Concrete shall not be placed in structures bearing on the soil until all pile driving within a radius of 25 feet has been completed. If concrete pours must be made within this area before completion of pile driving, such concrete shall cure at least 3 days before further driving is allowed.”
b. Drawings (Reissued). The following drawings are revised with latest revision date of 06 August 2020, and reissued with this amendment.
(1) Sheets CE101, CE102, CE103, CE104, CE105, CE106, CE107, CE108, CE109, CE110, S-106 and S-114.
2. This amendment is a part of the bidding papers and its receipt shall be acknowledged. All other conditions and requirements of the specifications remain unchanged. If the bids have been mailed prior to receiving this amendment, you will notify the office where bids are opened, in the specified manner, immediately of its receipt and of any changes in your bid occasioned thereby.
a. See Section 00 21 00, paragraph GENERAL BIDDING INFORMATION, on how to submit electronic bids.
3. Electronic bids will be received until 2:00 p.m., local time at place of bid opening, 13 August 2020.
