W9127P-18-B-0002 – STX Fencing Project Q-A V-2
***NOTE – contractor has freedom to quote a manual operating gate as well. ***
1. Outside diameter of post is almost same size as the width of the new concrete curb. Can the width of the curb be increased to allow better concrete coverage in the curb for the fence posts?
a. The contractor may widen the new concrete curb at his discretion.
2. Is there a specific person for delivery of the proposal? Are there any access requirements for delivery?
a. See – SECTION 00010 NOTES and SECTION 00100 INSTRUCTIONS, CONDITIONS, AND NOTICES TO OFFERORS of the solicitation document.
3. Are the controls & power for the new gate to be installed by the contractor?
a. Yes
4. What is the power available (e.g. 120, 480/277) for the gate operation?
a. The electricity going to the guard booth after the transformer is 208Y/120v, 3PH, 4W.
5. How will the conduit for controls be terminated at the guard booth? Will this be in a handhole outside the booth or stubbed up inside the booth?
a. Stubbed up inside the booth.
6. 6. How many conduit are needed and what size? Is there a requirement for spare conduits?
a. Size the conduit IAW National Electrical Code requirements. Conduit under or around the drive through area of the gate should support truck traffic. Conduit along or adjacent to the curb may not be required to support truck traffic.
7. Can conduit be direct buried, or does it need to be encased in a concrete duct bank?
a. direct buried is adequate
8. 8. Are any safety features or additional options (such as eye sensors, traffic loops, or traffic lights) required for the new gate?
a. none
9. 9. The current gate is located at a grassy area. Is any asphalt/concrete drive required under the new gate?
a. No
10. Does the secure perimeter need to be maintained during construction (i.e. does the existing fence need to be demolished only after the new fencing is completely installed?)
a. Yes. Mainly because of animals allowed on our base for grazing.
