Web of deck transverse beams at Fr 74 and Fr 78 and Longitudinal girders were modeled with 24.125 in. depth, where these depths are indicated as 22.625 in. as per Plan 3-7D of drawing 354-F330-01 Rev 2 and Plan View 4-B of drawing 681-
700-180 Rev 3. We understand that the web depth of beams may be increased by half of the flange thickness on both sides when these are modeled as plate elements. Considering this, the web may be modeled with 23.625 in. depth. ABS has updated the model adjusting these web thicknesses (Please refer to Figs. 1 and
2 in the appendix of the review letter. After running this updated model, Von-Mises stress higher than the allowable values were identified in the transverse deck beam and COR-TEN Steel brackets (Please refer to Figs 3 to 5 in the appendix of the review letter). Please revise the drawing, re-run the FEA and resubmit.
Revised Drawing and FEA Report submitted satisfying comment closure. This comment has been closed.
