RFI’s W. TX Embankment Mowing

W9126G21Q0056 9 Sep 2021

Q. Hords Creek - Our concern on this dam is about six feet from the guardrail on non lake side is over 34 degree slope and will have to be hand trimmed unless someone has a boom mower on a tractor. Also the dirt is gravel and sand. It will be impossible not to damage the dam while mowing with slope mowers. My question is will the govt be repairing this embankment and re-seeding and such prior to the first mow In my opinion it is currently un-mowable in current condition?

Government Response:

Only the bottom portion of the embankment has ever been mowed. There are currently no plans to adjust slope degrees at the top of the embankment. Contractors will not be required or requested to mow that portion of the Hords Creek Lake dam slope that creates a slope degree higher than the 27 degrees required of the slope mower.
