Salient Characteristics Warehouse Slotting Software
1. Requirements Overview
The Logistics Testing and Applications Division (LTAD) of the Packaging, Storage, and Containerization Center (PSCC) located at Tobyhanna Army Depot, PA, performs storage and distribution optimization for the Department of Defense (DoD). This includes development of load plans for mobile warehouses.
The warehouse slotting software is a tool used to quickly and accurately create load plans based on storage aid characteristics and item characteristics. The current process for creating a load plan is to manually and virtually load items into storage locations. The current process is very time consuming, prone to error, and requires many iterations to approach an acceptable solution. Warehouse slotting software will help create a more accurate load plan in a much shorter period.
