Q: On work item C-320, we understand the amendment 0001 where we are spot cleaning and coating the 10,000 sq. ft. combined in the eight (8) ballast tanks. My questions are as follows:
1. On the 10,000 sq. ft. we are cleaning and applying two coats of paint. The remaining surfaces of the tanks do not get painted.
2. On the site visit, we were not permitted to enter the tanks. We do not know where the 10,000 sq. ft. of surfaces are located. We suggest to make the needed staging, if required, as an additional handled with a contract modification.
ANSWERS to above:
Question #1 – Per the amended solicitation Clause C320, bidders shall use a combined total of 10,000 square feet (surface prepped and spot painted) for bidding purposes. Based on inspection by the Government after the tanks have been cleaned and opened, the total square footage to be surface prepped and spot painted may be reduced in amount if determined to not be needed or may be increased in amount if needed, as based on the Government inspection.
Question #2 – The locations of the surface areas of the ballast tanks to be surface prepped and spot painted shall be determined during inspection by the Government. Should staging be required at a location in order to address a surface for prepping and painting, the staging shall be addressed via formal modification at that time.
