About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a federal contract opportunity involving commercial washers and dryers for the Utah Army National Guard. The Q&A provides critical details about the procurement, including specification clarifications and vendor requirements. Key points include: 24 dryers are needed (either 12 or 24 units depending on manufacturer counting method), with 24 gas hookups; washers and dryers must come from the same company to ensure a single point of contact for the 1-3 year parts and service warranty. Vendor employees will handle delivery and installation at Camp Williams, with specific security protocols requiring vendors to report to the North truck gate, get screening in Building 3010, and provide a state-issued ID or passport. Additional technical specifications covered include electrical requirements (120V outlets for washers, electrical outlets for dryers), existing gas delivery lines, and preference for commercial-grade, top-loading washers with potentially adjustable coin operation features.

Q&A FOR RTI-COMMERICAL WASHERS & DRYERS
1) The 24 dryers that you are requesting, is that the total number (12 double stacked) or 24 double stacked units?
a. We have 24 gas hookups on the walls in the laundry rooms for 24 dryers, so we need 24 dryers
i. Some manufacturers count 2 dryers on top of each other as 1 unit (since they’re connected together). If we choose a vendor/manufacturer who does this with this type of model, then we need 12 units, which should still have 24 gas hookups and 24 tubs.
ii. Other manufacturers/vendors count 2 dryers on top of each as 2 units. If we choose a vendor/manufacturer who does this, then we need 24 units.
iii. Either way, we need 24 dryer tubs that have 24 gas hookups.
2) Do the washers and dryers need to come from the same company, or can they be separate, in the event they may not have both in stock?
a. Since we are requiring a 1–3-year parts and service warranty, we want only ONE point of contact to service ALL the washers and dryers.
3) Is there a loading dock?
a. Yes, we have a loading dock at
i. 17800 S Redwood Rd, BLDG 7150
ii. However, the washers and dryers will be installed in BLDG 7155, which is immediately next door to BLDG 7150
4) Who will offload the washers and dryers? Government or Vendor employee?
a. Vendor employee
5) Who will do the installation for the washers and dryers? The Government or vendors employee?
a. Vendor employee
6) Are there any type of special credentials, badges, background checks, or special access that would be needed for this job?
The washers and dryers will be delivered and installed in two different laundry rooms; vendors should do the following when arriving at Camp Williams:
1) Report to the North truck gate (not the main gate)
2) Security will direct them where to park
3) Go inside BLDG 3010 to get a screening and a day pass
In order for vendors to receive a day pass, vendors must arrive at BLDG 3010 Mon-Thurs 9:00-4:00, closed from 12:00-1:00 for lunch.
Personnel cannot be a felon and MUST bring either a state-issued driver’s license, state-issued ID, or a passport.
ADDED 5 MAY 2025
7) Are the outlets for the washers regular 120V?
Yes, the outlets for the washers are regular 120V
8) Are there electrical outlets for the dryers?
Yes, there are electrical outlets for the dryers.
9) Are there existing gas delivery lines for each of the dryers that will be installed or is gas piping work required for this installation?
Yes, there are existing delivery lines for each of the dryers that will be installed, gas piping work will NOT be required for this installation.
10) Will there be access to equipment to download the machines? Something like a dolly, pallet jacket, or forklift
Yes, we have a dolly, pallet jack, and a forklift to assist with delivery.
11) Concerning the capacity for the washing machines, is there a part number of a previous washing machine that meets the 4.4cuft capacity? All of the new washing machines that meet the external dimensions and are commercial grade seem to fall short of this size capacity.
We would prefer to have commercial-grade appliances that will last longer after getting used often, and ones that meet the external dimensions requirement, so that they fit inside the laundry room dimensionally. If we have to get washers that have di erent tub capacity so that they are still both commercial grade and still meet the external dimensions requirement, that is perfectly fine. The tub capacity of the washers is the least important feature of those three features.
a. As previously mentioned in the original specifications, the washers must also be top-loading washers.
b. If they have a coin operation feature, that’s fine if it can be disabled. We do NOT want anyone to have to pay to use the washers or dryers.
