1.2 AoI Background

Anniston Army Depot specializes in the overhaul, repair, and modernization of ground combat vehicles, artillery, small arms, and associated support equipment. It serves as a leading https://public.cyber.mil/stigs/ resource for technical expertise and industrial capabilities in these areas.

ANAD currently runs Dematic’s ASRS Redwood version on two Hewlett Packard (HP) Integrity

RX2660 /Itanium processor servers with an Oracle 19c database. It operates in a DoD

Nonclassified Internet Protocol (IP) Router Network (NIPRET). The system currently uses serial communications and Ethernet. It currently uses devices to convert serial data from

Recommended Standard (RS)-232 to RS-433 or from RS-232 to 20 mA current loop. This includes AGVs, Self-Retrieval Machines (SRMs), PLC, and all other such communications. The

PLCs are ControlLogix 1756-L61 PLCs located in Bldg. 513 and 398. There are five PanelView

Plus 1000 devices located in Bldg. 513 and Bldg. 398. The Perle terminal server is used for

AGV Communications (AGVC) system to AGV communications radio. The radio is a serial device. The system is accessed by both user access and workstation access. Users have designated role access to the system and their access is further controlled by the workstation i.e. which storage locations they are authorized to pick from.

Current storage and retrieval specifications are listed below:

Building 513

Crane 1 services of 1,932 stacked bins that reaches 90ft in height and stores type B pallets

(51in x 51in). The weight limit for each pallet is 2,000lbs.

Cranes 2 and 3 service 2,100 stacked bins that reaches 90ft in height and stores type A and C pallets (40in x 48in). The weight limit for each pallet is 2,000lbs.

Cranes 7, 8, and 9 service 4,009 stacked bins each that are 45ft in height. Each bin stores pans of various dimensions with a weight limit of 500lbs per pan.

Building 398:

Cranes 4, 5, and 6 service 1,456 stacked bins each that are 45ft in height and store type A and

C pallets (40in x 48in). The weight limit for each pallet is 600lbs.

1.3 Identify AoI Solution

This AoI establishes the requirement for a contractor to provide all the resources necessary to design, manufacture, deliver, transport, install, demonstrate the functional operation of and provide operator and maintenance training for the equipment. We encourage vendors to explore innovative approaches that push the boundaries of ASRS application and system reliability, while ensuring the highest levels of functionality.

Any systems coming onsite will require a submission to ANAD in advance for validation of performance with the recommended hardware configuration. This will include, but not be limited to, processors, drives, media, and network support. The contractor’s solution shall interface with the Army's Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) to receive, send, and update requests for materials. The interface between LMP and ASRS is a TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/Internet protocol) transaction using a middleware called PI.
