About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation for five aqueous-based cabinet-style turntable spray washers for the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. The amendment corrects Section 9.0 of the Statement of Work by removing the term "PVP" and provides answers to vendor questions. The key details are:

The solicitation requires the turntable washers to successfully demonstrate that with a fully loaded machine, the temperature of the cleaning solution at 185°F, the parts can be cleaned within a 10-minute machine cycle time. All washers will utilize the same 300 GPM at 140 PSI pump system and filtration requirements, regardless of the turntable diameter range of 30" to 84". The solicitation specifies that the turntable bearings must be lubricated for life without requiring disassembly. The agency clarifies that the environmental requirements can be obtained from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Office.

1. The purpose of this Amendment is to correct the Attachment 1 Statement of Work section 9.0, and answer questions.

2. Section 9.0 removed the word PVP.

3. Updated Statement of Work is attached to this amendment.

4. Below are the answers to the list of vendor questions as follows:

Question 1:

Under Section 9.0 - Performance Requirements - The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Washer shall successfully demonstrate at the PVP that the Turntable Washer, with the machine fully loaded with component parts in part containers or a subassembly on its wash support frame, and the temperature of the cleaning solution is at 185 F°, can clean the parts at a machine cycle time that is equal or less than 10 minutes. What does “PVP” mean?

Answer 1:

Corrected in attached updated SOW.

Question 2:

Under Section 5.13 - Pump Systems - 5.13.1 The wash pump system for the pre-wash stage shall have the minimum capacity of 300 GPM of water at a minimum of 140 psi of pressure. The minimum tank size shall be adequate for the size washer install in each requirement. A pressure gauge is installed at the pump outlet. Do you want this same pump size on ALL of the washers regardless that the turntable diameters having a range from 30” to 84”?

Answer 2:

Yes Question 3:

Under Section 5.14 - Plumbing Systems - Washers shall utilize built in filtration to avoid cavitation of the pumps or nozzle clogging. A loop filtration of at least a 1/2 HP pump shall continuously filter the solution in the machine reservoir at a rate of 2,400 gallons per hour minimum. Filtration shall capture suspended soils down to 100 micron. Washers shall utilize filter inlet & outlet gauges for monitoring filter life. Do you want this system to just have a simple outlet return back into the wash reservoir or would you like a series of eductor nozzle (5x flow) to sweep the reservoir bottom to churn the tanks bottom prior to the return to the filtration?

Answer 3:

Please provide per SOW.

Question 4:

Do we know what kind and size the support transmissions, end drives and transmission components they are cleaning?

Answer 4:

various parts in various shops.

Question 5:

In 5.13-1 it talks about minimum capacity of 300 GPM at 140 PSI. This would be an approximately a 50 hp pump. This is a could be a good size pump for the largest washer (4.2) that is 73” diameter x 84” work height but could be quite large for the smaller washers. Is this standard correct for all washers or is the largest washer the “pre-wash stage” described on 5.13.1?

Answer 5:

We wish to have the same pumps on all the washers.

Question 6:

5.8 says turntable bearings should be lubricated for life. We do not wish to have to breakdown the turn table for lubricating bearings.

Answer 6:

We do not wish to have to breakdown the turn table for lubricating bearings.

Question 7:

Is there a way to get the specification for the ADEM (environmental requirements)?

Answer 7:

You can get that info from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Office.

5. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
