Repair Building 37001

RFIs Contractors submitted after Site Visit on 3 August 2023

1. Reference M-601 Mini split Schedule Note 4. Confirming intent is for condenser to be wall mounted on bracket with hinged lockable security cage.

Response: Yes

2. Reference M-101 Note 4 & D-101 Note 11. D-101 states to demolish all mechanical equipment in the mechanical room. M-101 states AHU and duct in mechanical is existing to remain. Please clarify what needs to be removed/replaced in this area.

Response: See revised drawings.

3. The gutters they are proposing are a seamless gutter that is a residential style gutter. Everything on post and the projects that we have done in the past we have always used 24-gauge prefinished commercial Box gutters and downspouts. How do we need to proceed with this?

Response: See revised drawings.

4. Do we need any engineer drawings for any part of work?

Response: No, provide shop drawings according to Sheet S-001 note SS-11.

5. Regarding Page S-001, GN-4, Structural Steel Shop drawing are needed, do they need to be engineered?

Response: Shop drawings do not have to be engineered, refer to SS-11 on sheet S-001.

6. Regarding Page S-001, GN-8, the metal that is exposed during demo (that will stay in place) will that need to be touched up with Galvanized repair paint?

Response: Yes

7. Regarding Page S-001, GN-10, who is paying for said structural engineer?

Response: Structural Engineer is from the government.

8. Do we need a job site fence?

Response: Not required.

9. Do we need a job site project sign?

Response: Yes, see C-502 detail #6.

10. Per D-101, is it necessary to sand blast paint off bottom of building or can we remove the paint with other methods?

Response: Soda blast, see revised drawings

11. Per page D-101, note 7, says there is multi-layer flooring. How many layers does it have and where?

Response: See Technical Exhibit C – As builts.

12. Per Page D-101, Note 21 Will the GOVT identify what items need to be stored and how does it need to be stored? Does it need to be climate controlled?

Response: Refer to Division Specifications and manufacturer recommendations.

13. Per Page D-101, Note 2 refers to a WF Column. What is a WF Column and its purpose?

Response: WF Column is a wide flange column, these columns are existing and call out a column to be repaired.

14. During the job walk, we noticed there was texture sprayed on the CMU. Does the GOVT. want the texture removed from the CMU?

Response: No, see design drawings.

15. Per page D-201, Note A3, says to Demo Brick/ CMU veneer. Do you want it straight cut or toothed in?

Response: Toothed in.

16. Is an Envelope Air Test Needed?

Response: No

17. Is a Dalt Test Needed?

Response: Yes

18. Does the GOVT. want special 3rd party testing? If so, what is required?

Response: Only where specifications and drawings require.

19. Does the Govt. expect the contractor to have the STC rated walls tested.

Response: Follow Industry Standards.

20. Per Page M-001, GN-12, What is owner furnished equipment?

Response: Equipment provided by government (existing HVAC units). All other equipment shall be new.

21. Per M-001, Note GN-1, Where is the project Manual?

Response: Refer to specifications and design drawings.

22. Is full building commissioning and/or HVAC commissioning needed?

Response: Yes

23. Per Page A-103, concerning the raised floor system, in the entry way by the corridor, there is an arrow, does this indicate a sloped ramp?

Response: Yes, there is an ADA ramp

24. Per Page A-103, There is a walk off mat, indicated by the exterior door, how does the Govt. desire the height transition between the walk off mat and raised floor be addressed.

Response: There will be a 3” step up.

25. Entering the conference room from the corridor. There is a large hump in the floor. How does the Govt. want to address this?

Response: See revised drawings.

26. Regarding Page A-401, Detail 10 does no show what kind of material for shower wall. Please advise.

Response: See revised drawings.

27. Regarding Page A-601, 108A & 109A, shower wall calls for orange peel gypsum board. Please advise if that was your intent.

Response: See revised drawings.

28. Per page A-601 We would like to use solid surface for shower walls instead of sheetrock. Is this acceptable?

Response: Follow contract drawings, see revised drawings.

29. The Finish Schedule for Building 41011 does not state what the floor tile is in the Restrooms.

Response: See revised drawings.

30. Are the shower bases a premanufactured product or composed of a shower pan, mortar bed, and ceramic tile?

Response: Pre-manufactured product.

31. If shower floors are ceramic tile, will the concrete floor be recessed to accept a mortar bed?

Response: No recess, shower bases shall have a mortar bed.

32. Regarding M-401, Note 5, Can we have the submittal or Model and Serial Number of the AHU-1 since we are not replacing.

Response: Model: XTI-081X069-HAJA017A, Serial Number: AMPM XT0168

33. Regarding Sheet A-601, Note #1, are you requesting actual film or tinted glass?

Response: Tinted glass

34. Is there any network equipment needed?

Response: Yes, see revised drawings.

35. Are Network switches and components required to be provided by the contractor?

Response: Yes, see revised drawings.

36. Does the new PDS need to be Holocom square tubing or Emt?

Response: Holocom

37. Does the main electrical distribution panel need to be replaced?

Response: See E-102 Note #5.

38. Please provide with a copy of Spec Section 092200 – Supports For Plaster and Gypsum Board. I do not see where this spec section is listed in Exhibit B – Specifications.

Response: Not required, follow industry standards, division specifications, and design drawings.

39. Subject Line: Sand Blasting, Reference NO. Drawing sheet D-201 GN-13, Drawing sheet D-201 General note GN-11 states to sand blast paint off bottom of building. What type of blasting media will be permitted?

Response: Soda blast, see revised drawings.

40. Subject Line: Exhaust fans, Reference NO. Drawing sheet A-104 Note 6, Note 6 states install two exhaust fans but drawing sheet A-104 only shows one location. Please identify the location of the second fan.

Response: See revised drawings.

41. Subject Line: Knox box location, Reference NO. Drawing Sheet F-101, The legend on drawing sheet F-101 shows a “K” for knox box but no location is shown on the drawings. Wiil a knox box need to be installed? If so, please indicate the location.

42. Subject Line: Main Distribution Panel, Reference NO. D-101 Note 18, Drawing sheet D-101 note 18 states to inspect the MDP and notify DPW Engineering. Drawing sheet E-102 Note 5 states to install new MDP. What is the panel inspection criteria? To what purpose is this inspection?

43. Subject Line: shower wall material, Reference NO. A-401, No material type for shower walls is called out.

What material will be used for the shower walls?

Response: See revised drawings.

44. Subject Line: Lighting Type, Reference NO. Drawing sheet E-001, Specification section 26 51 00, Drawing sheet E-001 shows LED lighting, however specification section 26 51 00 “interior lighting” only lists fluorescent lighting. Please provide correct specification section or drawing sheets for lighting.

45. Subject Line: Service sink, Reference NO. Drawing sheet P-501, plumbing fixture schedule, Drawing sheet P- 501 under plumbing schedule note P4 calls for a service sink. The part number shown is for the rim guard. Please specify the type of service sink required (wall or floor mounted).

46. Subject Line: Flagpole, Reference NO. drawing sheet C-102 keynote 2, drawing sheet C-102 keynote 2 requires a 25 foot flagpole to be installed. There are no specifications for flagpoles. Please provide specifications for the flagpole required.

47. Subject Line: Project Funding, Reference NO. Solicitation, Is this project currently fully funded?

Response: Subject to Availability of Funding

48. Subject Line: Lighting Fixture Schedule, Reference NO. Lighting Plan, Question: Please provide a lighting fixture schedule?

Response: See revised drawings.

49. Subject Line: Mini Split, Reference NO. M-601 Mini split Schedule Note 4, Question: Please confirm the intent is for condenser to be wall mounted on bracket with hinged lockable security cage?

Response: See RFI #1.

50. Subject Line: Lighting Fixture Schedule, Reference NO. M-101 Note 4 & D-101 Note 11, Question: D-101 states to demolish all mechanical equipment in the mechanical room. M-101 states AHU and duct in mechanical is existing to remain. Please clarify what needs to be removed/replaced in this area?

Response: See RFI #2.

51. How many penetrations are on the roof?

Response: For existing see As-builts, for new see all requirements, specifications and codes.

52. The LVT scope on this jobs is in fact a high end homogeneous Vinyl Tile that has to be waxed 4 times upon installation. I would like to know if we only have to match specified colors on sheet A601 of each project, or is this a specified Product Brand "Patcraft" and Product "ADMIX" Color "0100 White Corral" or "0110 Moon Shell".

Response: Contractor shall install all product per manufacturers recommendations, and all product called out are for design purposes only, any equivalent or better product is acceptable.

53. In Specs Section 01 35 13, 1.4.2, call out a preliminary schedule to be turned in with our bid; but in the solicitation, a schedule is not mentioned. Please advise if we need to submit a preliminary schedule in with our bid submission.

Response: No, a preliminary schedule is not required to be submitted with your bid.
