AMENDMENT 0001 NARRATIVE

The purpose of Amendment 0001 is:

1. Re-establish the close date to 14 June 2022.

2. Publish the following questions and answers.

Q1. What is the overhead door size to get in from the east?

A1. The very North East door, (outside overhead door) is 12ft Wide by 14ft High. The Inside overhead door on the North isle is 10ft Wide by 12ft High, the maximum height that enter the building is 11ft 6 inches because of the interior door.

Q2 What is the load capacity for the trench with plating over top? What is the load rating on the tunnel in the aisleway? Will JMTC put steel plate down to help with loading?

A2. Public Works only stated that we need to place a steel plate over the trench area. They recommended a steel plate of ½ inch thick or thicker. JMTC will place steel plates over the trench that runs East and West through the 222 building.

Q3. Is there any info on soils below existing building? Proposed foundations are to extend 10’ below slab, if bedrock is encountered, this would be considered T&M work.

A3. I have included all the prints that we have pertaining to the building foundations and soil depths.

Q4. Are existing building columns supported on piers? Pad footings? At what elevation?

A4. See included prints

Q5. With the location of the proposed foundations being close to existing building foundations, there are concerns about possible building undermining. How would this be handled?

A5. We have moved the machine from the original position to a better suited location and there should be no real concern about undermining the column foundations. See revised drawings.

Q6. General notes call for saw cutting and concrete demo during 2nd shift. If this is the case, we will need to stockpile broken concrete outside, then double handle it the next day to haul offsite, leading to additional costs. Can all work be moved to 1st shift?

Q6. The supervisor does not have a problem with cutting and breaking up the concrete on first shift.

Q7. Solicitation calls for 30 day schedule for completion. For the amount of unknowns under the building, and normal construction durations, schedule to complete would be up to 60 days. Every effort would be made to complete the project as soon as possible.

W9098S22R0010

A7. This is understandable, as fast as possible.

Q8. How will bedrock removal cost be accounted for? I would recommend a unit price per CY.

A8. The contractor must account for the bed rock in their bid. This contract is a firm fixed price, no extra costs.

Q9. Are there any tunnels running thru the foot print of the new work?

A9. Not in the work area that are known of. There are tunnels on the East end of the building and there are some small utility trenches near the planned location of the hammers.

Q10. Also what is the depth of the tunnel in the aisleway? I am concerned about undermining the existing tunnel if it is shallower than the 116” deep hammer pits.

A10. The trench that is located in the main aisle in building 222 is 3 feet deep by 3 feet wide.

Q11. Who will be providing the cover plates and embed angles for the hammer pits?

A11. JMTC will be providing the cover plates for the Hammers but the contractor will provide all embedded angles for the pits

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
